No incentive levelling past 90 in standard

"He is probably stuck at 90 and cba leveling"

Thats perhaps your first thought when you start reading this thread. But there is some serious issue behind it.

For me to level up i need to be extremely picky with map mods. Also skipping some bosses and not doing labs at all. I rather keep dying 5 times and get a tier 15 boss down than grinding lower tiers for exp.

Once again I repeat myself because I will start getting irrelevant comments saying that I lack skill. Its nothing to do with skill. Its pure lack of incentive. Extra skills wont make any difference to my character and I think its about time to change approach GGG.

I got lots of friends, I spoke to many people - everyone between 91-94 stuck for months because they cba leveling. They powerful enough to clean maps but at least dont have to be slow and can take any maps.

i agree. there is no incentive leveling past 90. you have enough passive points at 90, and theres basically no way i'll ever play enough to hit level 100 so an extra 2-3 passive points will not do anything for me.

i always play on hitting 90, and thats tough enough as it is, i find. (like, takes enough time to do).
no matter who you are, its about play time. some peoples play time can be crunched in less numbers of looooong sessions. some peoples play time is spread out over numerous short sessions. it takes the same time to level up, basically, but doing it over long sessions can make it happen in less days. i don't have this convenience, nor do majority of who play the game, thus 100 is not a viable achievement.

no big deal. i have more fun turning my old characters into something new with the respecs granted. its just as tedious to level up new characters in order to try new builds, but that is a lot more common now since you can't respec ascendancy (like, change your ascendancy)

Okay that's fair. But either your build isn't good or your gear cant handle the damage input/output. Giving the blanket statement that your skill cap isn't an issue, could in-fact, be the issue.

And btw, figure out what you want out of this game instead of belittling the employees at GGG.

Below is part of your previous post.

I dont like leagues, creating character all over and over and over and o...

I like something new, fresh, new maps, better lvl cap, more skills, more gems, more leggies, more this and that...but you cant just make it like that.

1.) You said yourself that you want a higher level cap, but then say there's no reason to level past 90.

2.) You said yourself that you want something new and fresh, but then say you don't want to level another character.

3.) You said yourself that you want more skills, but then say that new skills wont help your character.

What would you like to choose, current leveling system where you lose exp on death or instead not losing exp but need 10x more exp for level. I take second option. Its pain in the ass as it is already, but people at least will have that mentality "next 2 years time i finally hit that 100".

I guess each game have their own politics, most of you are conservatives who dont like changes. But then again as you mentioned my build probably suck if I cant reach 100. Well let me tell you pro, not everyone is jobless like you, supported by parents who can afford sitting on forums and watching youtube videos on how to build best character all day long. Whilst I agree that casual people shouldn't be as lucky and as powerful as people who giving their own life for this game but some adjustments in certain aspects should be made to make game enjoyable regardless who you are.

I'd take the "you lose your character on death" option.
agree with you OP. lvl up, get some wealth, new build. This is all you can do in standard
What I'd like to hear is what GGG intended for players to do once they hit that soft level cap?

And I'll take the first, thank you very much. XP is already slow enough as it is, and making it 10x slower would demotivate me to the point where I might just quit the game. XP loss on death is an excellent motivator to learn to play the game better. None of that "let me throw myself at this boss umpteen million times until it finally dies" nonsense for me thanks.
I've said it a load of times:

The simple answer is to make the exp penalty less harsh - it doesn't have to be gone,
just that, and I think most people will still be on for 100

Making 100 as hard as it is now, is literally reducing player incentive and the amount of people playing.

Even if 90 is a soft cap for most, you need the 'dream' of 'maybe' reaching 100

'Lose your dreams and you will lose your mind, to life unkind.'
- The Rolling Stones.

Give the players the dream of 100 again, and we'll all be happy.
