No incentive levelling past 90 in standard

because people dont want to be 'finished', they want to keep playing their characters...

How many lvl100 chars u make in Diablo 2? How many chars have u maxed paragon levels on in D3?

When D3 landed it didnt have paragon levels right? Anyone care to have a stab at why they needed to add them?
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
A character is finished when it's no longer fun levelling it.It can however be fun to now and again to go back to a character you haven't played in a while and level it a bit more as it becomes fresh again.
IMO

In any game when a character has a leveling target set by the game: The character is done when he hits that target.

And I'm afraid to say - that's level 100.

Simple

If I remember correctly there was no lvl 100 in any diablo game.

Yeah it was 99 but to be completely fair and honest, grind was way more brutal in d2 and that was without xp loss on death. I capped my highest character at 95 and that was over the course of 3 years. And I cleared cow lvl in under a minute.

10% needs to be reduced to 5% after 90 imho. And revert before last do nerf of buff red maps by 50-100%% or make them more accessible/easier to maintain.

In D2 it was commonly known: To reach level 99, you had to be part autistic. Why? Because the cap was there just for the sake of a cap. It wasn't meant to be reached.

In PoE it is WAY easier, yet - the cap is there just for the sake of a cap. But GGG offers the POSSIBILITY to reach it. Some can do it in days/weeks. Chris even said it in the Q&A; IF you work HARD towards it within a league (3 months).

There's A LOT of "IMO" in this thread, which shows that everyone has a different view on this. So what is right? Where should the balance be? Why is the current amount of grind needed a "bad" thing? Because I can't reach it? Because YOU can't reach it?

Yellow maps giving more XP than red maps should be fixed ("IMO"), but the overall grind? Leave it. IMO.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

I dont understand why anyone would not want to get to 100

Your toon is NOT finished at 90

or 80

or 75

or 15

It's done at 100.

This is the only game where 99,99999% of players don't want to reach or can't the top lvl.
Beforen exp nerf it was 99%

NO other game I've played in 30yrs that involves leveling a toon says : 'Oh, I'll just quit at lvl 85 - I'm done now.'

Nah, I would consider a toon done once it can do all the end-game bosses in the game. Level 100 is meaningless to me - you can farm Dried Lake all day or do nothing in Gorge parties and still reach 100.

If that were the case 98% of the player base can't solo hall of grandmasters so i guess the majority of players never "finish a toon."

I said bosses not other player characters. Someone's level 94 Puncture exile in HoG is not a "boss". HoG in my opinion is just a bonus PVP map.

It's finished. Will I still play it? Sure. Will it be an active goal of mine? Probably not.

You reference other games, but PoE is unique in this area of end-game levels. For example, if the XP required to get to 100 were exponentially higher than it is now, would you be singing the same tune? If it took a million gaming hours to get from level 90 to 100, would you still be trying to tell us 100 is the ultimate goal? There comes a point when the investment of time is not worth what you get out of it. Diminishing returns.

Some players will still play all the way to 100. I may as well, but only time and my interest level in doing so will determine that, which is why I can't really make a claim one way or another at this point with my level 90.

Your elitism is showing, or rather your appreciation of it. So by that definition of yours, "real men" are the ones who grind more in PoE? Really? And what about "real women"? See, your statement is a joke.

You right, but GGG never was cared about us, or else changes was opposite.

I mean 2 guys ask Cris to nerf exp and 500k ask to buff exp or remove penalty... GUESS WHAT GGG CHOOSE? You know the answer.
