Policies on the other hand can easily be changed, updated, and even skirted by those it applies to if GGG decides to do so. I've noticed that GGG is for the most part fair and level-headed. So whatever the banned user did, or any banned user did, be comfortable in knowing it was either 1.) a very serious exploitation, or 2.) not the first time that user violated the ToS.

There are some gray areas of our ToS, such as macros, where some are permitted and others are not. I personally take this to mean that if I abuse macros to do something like botting or give myself an unfair advantage in a league/ladder, I will be breaking the ToS. But if I use the macros to make my gameplay more enjoyable without skirting the built-in restrictions (eg: make macros to use key strokes from my mouse buttons), that's fairly safe.

Other areas are not so gray. For example, taking the game client, de-compiling it, and editing or adding your own code to either re-distribute or use personally would be a huge breach of that ToS.

The ban is on the account not usually an IP address as far as anyone knows. Proxies would do shit for account bans. This is because GGG has no problem letting you have a second chance on a brand new account. If they do for some reason IP ban you or some more permanent ban from playing at all, what sort of hypothetical shit did you do in a game that you supposedly like enough to try to work around the ban?
