cant play game after update 2/29/2016 10:30 pm Update windows??

I have completely removed path of exile and the vc redist and have downloaded the latest versions of each from their respective websites. Hopefully once poe is finished installing (about halfway done downloading everything) it will be working as it should be.

Ok I've figured it out guys - YAY!.

This is what you need to do - you need to have windows 7 x64 sp 1 installed (no way around this), you need to have windows update and windows modules installer not disabled while running the redist install, if you have those the install will suceed, after that run poe and its all good.

... you can thank me later.

Also make sure you redisable the offending update & modeuls installer right afterwards before they do what it is they do (yeah you know).

I have windows 7 x64 Sp1 installed and tried disabling the updater and modules installer via the services.msc and still get the api-...-runtime.dll error. They really need to come up with somekind of hotfix/rollback before people start shredding apart their windows settings just to get the dang thing running. Can't even get the poe.exe up to start downloading the files.
LOL fuck, i'm still trying to figure this shit out, i've installed Path of Exile on 7 different computers/laptops in the past 3-4 hours, and each computer has the same sort of issue... what the shit :/

Oh and im.. well, im a technician, so, having alot of laptops around is from other clients who gave up and gave them to me, i could sell these laptops for a total of like, 3 grand or something >_>

You NEED to have those services in particular enabled while installing the vc x64 redist, you can disable them immediately afterwards.

It should enable the redist to actually finish the installation without the unspecified error, which I assume occurs because it needs most probably the windows modules installer service too correctly register some things as it finishes up.

Make sure that you also uninstall it even if it failed before reinstalling with those services enabled (that's what I did - I had been bashing head against wall so when it worked I was like I got post this quick because it was griefing me and I'm sure that it is you also, that's why my instructions are a bit sketchy).

May be onto something here, I did not have SP1 installed on my pc when all this started happening. I updated Windows update tool, downloaded all important and optional updates, restarted PC. Checked for new updates, installed SP1 and did another restart. Now I'm sitting here watching the POE Client Allocating Space. Its taking forever for it to allocate space like it used to a few years back but hey I'm not getting any errors. Will edit with final result when done.
Same problem here:

"api-ms-win-crt-runtim-l1-1-0.dll missing on my computer so POE won't start...

Anyone got a fix yet?
