is lightning coil really that good?
" I dunno, last time I checked for 1800 armour chests I could get one with 90 life for 1 chaos, I havent looked in a while but... ok so I stopped being lazy there and searched, this thing for 1 chaos in talisman... Rapture Veil Gladiator Plate Level: 65 Strength: 177 +41 to Strength +389 to Armour 109% increased Armour +41% to Cold Resistance 2094.97 armour master craft on the 64 life or whatever, its got 20 life from str already, done. 1 chaos. You cna probably get a 1450 armour lioneyes shield for 1c... I think people underestimate how cheap melee gear is. 1 chaos per slot you can have a character thats 90% as beefy as a character with mirror level gear when it comes to items like this. still not as good as a coil but a coil is exalts now right? So you cna buy what, 80 of these chests for the price of an unlinked coil? If you trade a 2k armour chest is basically free, walk into docks, kill a few packs, an orb of equiv value to a chaos is going to drop, there you go 2k armour chest. " ya Im getting a total of 283% armour atm on my 2h cyclone it would seem from tree and a ring craft. Bit extreme tbh, not typical but it happens. So that means Im getting 7,660 armour from my current 2k armour chest, Ill be getting 15,320 armour from my chest with that passive. Still not sure it would beat a legacy coil, maybe a new one I dunno tbh, would have to math. Im basically going to have 20k armour with 12k evasion, on a 2h build with over 110k dps, 205% life and 8 endurance charges. Imo juggernaut is pretty serious, people have been saying its underpowered compared to some of the crazy other trees but I think its deceptively strong. My build is wearing a 2k armour chest, thats 1 chaos. A devotos devotion, thats 1 chaos... then get a belt with armour and just any gloves and boots that have either armour or evasion, my boots have 266 armour I think and my gloves are evasion gloves. I could grind that currency in what, half an hour? I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

i stand corrected. thats pretty darn cheap

in response to the armor discussion, i also used to use molten shell in a CWDT setup, and that grants a significant bonus if the level is high. haven't been giving it much love lately, but it's another option out there.

They should increase molten threshold again. Currently it's good only for extra damage, it blows up in a nanosecond on an armor char even if it has no block at all.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

@OP: It is simply the best chest out there when you need phys dmg reduction. I really have no idea why you can still buy 6L legacy ones for 20-30 ex. All you have to do is to add a taste of hate flask and you are ready for the big hits. Those 2 items could save you so many armor nodes, it isn't even funny.

" ya see this is the thing, before a discussion in the forum about a year ago led me to actually search how much a 2k armour chest costs I had no idea. I was pretty shocked. It makes sense though, the reason we dont naturally have a clue what they cost is because we dont search for them, no one does, and if theres more of an item around than people who actually use it then its going to hit that 1 chaos bottom of the barrel I guess. " It's a strange case where the perceived power is very high yet the cost is pitifully low. I got a near perfect legacy coil for a mere 20 exalts whilst non legacy 6 link unique go for around 16-18. Really, with the amount of hype and praise it gets, legacy coils should be closer to 40-50 for a legacy 6 linked so why is it their prices never increased since the nerf? I had asked a question prior about why they are not more popular despite their supposed power. EHP numbers can be very deceiving, you can get ridiculously high EHP with evasion and dodge from darkray but it means nothing if 2 hits from rnjesus will kill you through 98% effective eva/dodge. On the otherhand, a zero armor char with mediocre evasion, taste of hate and fortify is going to be more tanky than a dedicated armor user with fortify and enduring cry. Throw in rumi's concoction and alchemist notable and you're basically pre nerf aegis aurora level tank for a limited duration. Also, Koam's heart is a thing for evasion based chars and lets not forget how hard it is to make up -60 light resist on a bow user. It does seem that armour is about the least efficient way to mitigate physical damage in terms of investment required. Weird, that!
As for the cost being pitifully low, well, I must be pitifully poor! I only have 7 exalts in 1300 hours played. Of course I have other currency and my gear is worth a bit, but that kind of currency is like selling my house for a Ferrari. I do have a near perfect, 6S 5L non-legacy LC though, that will have to suffice... |

the armour is just saturated in perm sc. I have about 10 in my stash, I used to vendor them because you couldnt even sell them for a chaos most of the time. Just league after league of >99 search results on xyz for 1c each not selling building up in standard.
Spoiler
Theyre basically worth nothing more than their socketing cost in standard, the actual item is as good as free. Theres more in our guild stash, they were just stupidly common for way too long, seems like nothing can even dent the surplus. " This, so much. I remember vendoring those because they just didn't sell. And he's not lying about the guild stash :P But to answer the OP's question, LC does basically more stuff for less investment(on the tree). LC + ToH + Fortify + Enfeeble + End Charges mean you have all the physical mitigation you're ever going to need and you can just go evasion and acro, and stack avoidance on top of all that mitigation instead of having to take every hit, avoidance which also works against elemental attacks. Most people don't realize it, but armor just takes too much to be good on its own. For try, for see, and for know.
