is lightning coil really that good?

Lets say i receive 1000 physical damage, have 40% physical damage reduction from armours and LC change 300 damage into lightning damage.

So

700 * 0.6 = 420 dmg taken
300 * 0.25 = 75 dmg taken

Total 495 dmg taken

Without LC

1000 * 0.6 = 600 dmg taken

The difference is about 100+ dmg, LC reduces 20% more dmg. Is that correct?

So the main question, is 20% extra dmg reduction worth?
24.1.2018
wheres my fragment tab?
(I thought that was a joke)

If you've ever done high tier mapping then yes It's god tier beyond measures like things hit VERY very fucking hard when it comes to like fucking t12+ shit.

Even a Cloak of flame is good.

If you're an evasion based character with no armor then its a pretty big difference. It can potentially make a 1 shot, not and smaller hits much more manageable through mitigators like life regen.

If you want to see various EHP possibilities such as LC vs a different armor try this:
https://jsfiddle.net/p7pe80jx/39/embedded/result/

Physical damage is grossly overtuned and high level maps are a total ripfest for everyone not rocking 8000 life or 6000 life with additional mitigation.

this chest is most effective for eva based character, i don't see the point with armor based character where there is much better options.

Lol like what?
"physical damage reduction" from armor (ie. that % number next to your armor on your character sheet)is a dirty little liar, pay it no mind.

Lets say you have 3k armor with and without LC, a hit from pure physical damage will end up like this:

Without LC:
1k Damage, mitigation from armor 23,08% = ~770 damage

With LC:
300 lightning damage, mitigation from resists 75% = 75 Damage
700 Damage, mitigation from armor 30% = ~490 Damage

The lower the physical hit in relation to armor, the more damage armor absorbs. On the other hand, should you have more reduction against a physical hit than lightning resistance (ie. a sub 100 damage hit on a 3k armor character) LC will actually *increase* your damage taken.

Sure is good, it's great for evaders because they get the precious mitigation and it's good for armor because its mitigation gets based on 70% of incoming damage, which is a synergy effect so the effective damage reduction ends up higher that what an evader gets.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I wonder how many people who swear by the efficacy of Lightning Coil + Taste of Hate use Enfeeble. Give that 30-40% increased effectiveness and I can manage tier 10-ish maps with a piddly 2k evasion and 1k armor without the two uniques. Of course I wouldn't be surprised if people who regularly grind out tier 13+ maps for level 100 use both CL + ToH and high-effectiveness Enfeeble simply because you can never have too much defense when you're grinding out level 100.

True enough, I'm not grinding for 100 but playing a melee evade-acro-enfeeble in talisman I could really use extra protection in higher mid tiers, though a ranged char probably wouldn't need it.
