hmm, seems "most" people don't want gold according to devs, this thread, and others :)

Still most people would use it for trading when the other method is still fully available?
That doesn't make any sense.

Of course they would use it, when they would find it while playing. Everything else is just an extra step in the method defined by OP.

What about this, you still find orbs but you can turn orbs into gold and gold into orbs at NPCs.
The supposed greater thrill of finding an orb with a particular name over finding a huge pile of gold would remain. People who prefer not to use gold would never have to see it.
People who prefer to trade with gold can do so.

this idea was already lampooned by us in page 7 or 8, you are just adding a middle man where one is not needed or wanted by the devs or most in this thread.
and another circle is complete.
see how the new vendors change our interaction with currencies first before we try to reinvent the game?

Can we get a lock on this thread please?!
Really, we have resorted to even changing the main subject line to update from Rethinking Gold as a Currency to Re-Rethinking....
No matter how many times you address, re-address or even re-re-address it, the devs have said no, this thread has only run circles and the community as a majority has stated they do not want the same feel as diablo or other MMO's. The currency in this game is not broken, you just are accustomed to a different approach to currency. Get used to it, learn to use it. You dont have to like it, and there is always the option of not using it at all, and just waiting till you find what you want in a drop.

I was going to write a wall of text explaining why that is better than that, and so on. But I gave up, knowing that it would lead to a pointless discussion merry go round style.
My only concern is that people will get their wish and the barter system will be dropped. No game breaking deal but it saddens me when people go for boring overused systems instead of something more exciting.
And for the love of God, I know what the OP suggested and I know it has never been done before, but gold seems off in this game. (just to make it clear)
Uniform currency is "Boring and overused"? LOL. Good one.
There is nothing inherently exciting about bartering.
If you prefer it then you can keep doing it. Most people won't, because they don't prefer it.
Are you so selfish that you completely ignore what most people want just so you can have your little excitment?
Once again, point missed.
So by your logic, stating your preferences automatically discards other people's choices and makes you selfish?...Noted; guess I learn new things every day.
Also, don't tell me Gold isn't overused in a ton of games. Although in some games it does fit, and makes perfect sense, in some games we could do without. Furthermore, in many of said games, gold is also useless; you get to hoard millions upon millions without using it; pls tell me where's the fun in that?
And from what I've seen, more people prefer the orbs, while only a small portion would like gold also.
And sadly here we go again, merry go round that never stops. Why do you do this to me internet?

No, but stating that your preference is the opposite of everyone elses and insist of wanting the game to be based on it.

No it's not overused. That's like saying that characters are overused in RPGs.
In every single game that involves trading it fits perfectly to have a uniform currency.
Just because some games fail with the implementation doesn't mean that the idea is bad.

I think a lack of understanding is behind that.
This thread shows that alot of people does not understand the benefits of a uniform currency.
There are benefits of having a uniform currency, only a fool would deny that.
I think that the devs should try it. They can change it back if it turns out to be a mistake.

It seems we have reached a standstill. It's funny how the people of this thread, each, try to defend their preference but fail to convince the other why their choice is the best.
Same thing happens on a lot of real life issues. No wonder the world is so messed up.
Maybe we should just let the devs decide. everyone wins >.>
