Am I the only one who has no idea who 'AXN' is?
Is he the same as that 'Kripple' chap from D3?

No it doesnt. Real world economies are regulated, even in the most capitalistic countries. Monopolies and cartels are bad for free market and subjected to antitrust laws. Pretty much the opposite of this degenerated "economy" in PoE.

So basically this thread is people moaning that they don't have the correct number of exalted orbs (as decided by AXN) to buy stuff.
Well, good luck to him (and others) ! Quite what somebody wants with 5000 of an imaginary currency is beyond me. Look at it? Give part of it away on a whim? Tease others?
(To be fair I am not a DPS whore. My summoner witch does well enough for me. If it takes me 20 minutes to complete a map, and it takes somebody else 3 minutes, it doesn't bother me. I have more important things to worry about)

In the real world you would have a governing body that would regulate them so they could not fix prices to make a huge profit.

In the real world there has been numerous investigations into price fixing with energy companies, mobile phone networks and just recently with fuel prices
