more AI and better risk/reward is indeed not only a gigantic gameplay-enhancer, but also an efficient bug-zapper.
an automated bot would have a seriously hard time botting a boss or some area, if it requires some human-sized thinking.


also, the current state of pretty much "everything can drop anywhere" - or "Exalts from barrels" as I like to call it - is a lot more bot-friendly compared to "yes you can drop this mirror. just reach end-game and start farming this bunch of insane bosses (made even more insane by AI)".
abstractly speaking, of course.
item tiers tied to difficulty and level of content, are trivial in ARPG, and should be trivial here.

Atziri? well she is risk/reward and a great challenge.
there are some "ifs" here of course. like "if your screen doesn't freeze up, and desync isn't there to prevent you from knowing, you are standing right in the middle of a Double Flameblast".
but as a whole, she is very close to how I'd like a boss to be.
right up there with my favorite boss in the entire game, Vaal Oversoul.
the original one. not the ridiculous spam-machine spawning in Atziri's zone.

but we can't just look at her - or anything else in the game - as a stand-alone.
mechanics and designs interlock to make a game, so this just has to be said:
she's locked behind thick walls of dumb RNG, and I hate that.

and it gets even worse if you want to face the Uber version in Alluring Abyss.
farming Sacrifices is one thing. getting full Mortal Sets without an un-healthy amount of hardcore-trade, is quite another.

at which point btw, the gear-checks become absolutely unreal, which again caters to the super-rich more than to the "just skilled".
there was a guy who beat Atziri herself as CI + EB. 1 hit point, all skill.
but I dare say it's completely impossible to reach her as "all skill". you'll get one-shot by something that screams "super-gear or get the fuck out!", if you try.

i got a mirrored dagger from him like 2 months ago, I added him in my friendlist just cause his fucking rich XD, then i sold my items then pmed him to ask how much for mirror fee, he replied pretty quickly with the answer, i had pure ex, he provided the mirror even gave me like 10 ex discount i think, never mirrored from him before, his a pretty good merchant if i say so myself, thats only my opinion though.

Also why does every thread about gear boils down to "We need to be able to get better gear faster." Honestly at this point they should just do a diablo 3 and chop off 2 affixes off gear so people stop bitching about ultra perfect gear compared to their extremely good 3 affix in high value gear as oppose to 6.

johnKeys, you need to look into creating an ARPG, the skill ceiling in PoE is way too low to implement a system similar to what you call ideal.

I code for a living, but I never created a game in my life (aside from some hobby Battleship/Minesweeper look-alikes).
games are just a world apart from what I do. the kind of software I work on.
all the graphic engine work and modeling is completely alien to me.
sprites... ahem sorry, Polygons flying around...
this is why I have great respect for the people dabbling with this kind of Alchemy.
it really is a lot of work.
people whose creations brought me over 30 years of joy so far.

what I described above is a utopian vision.
what I want to see as a player, not a coder.
if at least part of it can be implemented into either this game or Path Of Exile 2, I'll be happy.

but some are higher priority than others, in my opinion.
like stabilizing the game before putting out new content.
