if the game and GGG's priorities remained static, I'd actually consider to just accept it.
but it's dynamic. changing constantly, which means GGG aren't here to just sit on laurels and collect MTX money. but they are taking the game in a direction that's not desired from my point of view, to put it lightly. and still I care about the game and enjoy playing it.

I did, but not recently.
therefore a more up-to-date definition of my worst nightmare, would be:

"an RMT-infested, bug-ridden, crash-prone version of something that could be right up there with Diablo, but ended up competing head-to-head with the shittiest of low-quality MMORPGs".

so now you hopefully see why I do anything I can, to stop it from happening.

So, solution wise - firm up existing content for efficiency and stability before introducing new content? Balance gameplay, items and skills around effective and efficient builds - not mirror worthy gear? Stop Eternals/Mirrors from dropping any more?

I'm just stabbing in the dark here, of course. What about the RMT side, is there a quick fix, or is it something incremental that will occur with other changes?

I've been around a very short period of time, and don't have a lot of investment in the game (just happy if I am having fun pretty much), so I am coming from a pretty different perspective, it's nice to see those of people with a much larger range of experiences and history.
