funny how rich players bring the same argument as neoliberal apologets irl when it comes to tax the rich.

but back to the game:
ultra rich control the markets to get even richer
ultra rich decide who gets overpowered items and who doesn't
ultra rich soak up currency (eternals, exalts, mirrors) from the economy
real crafting is restricted to the top 1% of players

so far, so bad but:
currency drops are probably calculated with normal distribution in mind.
the overwhelming whealth of the top 10% inflates prices for high end rare items.
most of the player base will recognize that it's folly to even try to get into these circles.

and there is one problem which also applies to real life if you somehow drive down the gini factor to zero: inflation, because too much money is chasing too few goods. and in difference to governments ggg has no control over the current amount of excess currency because there is no tax mechanism.

the good things: in difference to real life the top whealthiest cannot bribe devs to change the rules to get even richer. and ggg can jist change the rules for more even distribution without causing a revolution

just my 2 cents

You forgot one thing, IRL you work for money. In a game you just play for fun, items drop out of thin air, and the market is player created. If the not so rich players want to change anything all they have to do is not to trade with the rich players.

Why should GGG change anything? They dont make rich players rich, they dont make poor players poor, they are not a government.

I hope people realize a game is not comparable to real life because games are there to take people away from life, not to emulate a second life.

I actually believe the nerf to masters crafting was intended because those top rich people complained average people could craft gears themselves instead of giving 100ex+mirrror to them.

I mean Chris told they nerfed masters crafting because of economy? who do you think control high level item economy?

I´m so sorry for the "mirrored" posts... looks that the forums works very well... same as the game.

in real life i invest my time to create goods and because i don't own the company i get betrayed for the real value which gets to my bosses and shareholders who are in control. in the game i find a mirror after investing my time and my only way to something out of it is to make the guys richer who are in control.

some will say, it's open to you to invest as much dedication and time as the top 1% to get like them (the old dishwasher to billionaire story they tell future slaves of the capitalist food chain in the kindergarten) but i met alot of dedicated people in real life and ingame and they couldn't. because the systems allows only a few winners. that's the whole discouraging secret.

and to keep people playing or working governments and game masters have to keep the illusion that you still can beat the game/get whealthy even if you're not born rich or somehow aquired several high end items to start dealing with.

getting the rich too rich is counter productive to that. if there is no tax, economic systems tend to get out of control until they reset themselves or need a reset to function again.

There are a lot of misconceptions in this thread. Let me tell you why I am thinking about quitting the game.

GGG makes it impossible for me to enjoy the game, other players make it impossible for me to enjoy the game.

None of this is my fault, it's all other peoples fault.

I am perfect and know everything.
