We gotta do something about the state of trading.

Definitely need to add customized searching of the trading forum. That's the only problem though, and it's one that is probably already being worked on. The whole point of the "BETA" label instead of calling the OB a release is that a lot of shit isn't finished yet, and the forum trading mechanics are one of those things.
Just adding some better search options to the forums would help a lot while we wait for them to implement whatever peachii was referring too. or even just getting rid of archived trading from search results.

I think its fine for now.

I just post up what I wanna trade and then wait for a buyer, if not adjust the deal.

I actually like the way it is. I solo farm alot and i just glance at the chat and trades that are going on as i farm. it makes the game feel lively to me. sometimes i trade on the fly... if a chaos orb or something of value pops out, i post it up for what i want as i farm. wonderful. when i hear the "click" sound of a PM i make the deal.

if it was just general chatting about builds, questions, i wouldnt really care and prolly shut it off.

I like it. fine the way it is.my complaints at this point in time are few =)
I disagree. The current method (forums) is very limited. How many bumped post must I go through to find what I am looking for? Its ridiculous. Especially the fact that those forum posts are in constant change. How much work is involved with the poster constantly having to update their 'shop'?

I for one can not find anything worth buying unless I go through 50+ threads of "I sell shit cheap" or "so-in-so's shop+". It is horrible.

There should be an in game object you can click to sell your items with a search function. What is the harm in that? Say you want a armor only 4L item. All of the armor only 4L items would appear. You then 'express interest' by either whispering the seller or clicking an icon (to do the same effect). Then the seller thinks "oh dudewithnopants is interested in my item, maybe I should make contact with him".

Absolutely no reason why that sort of thing shouldn't be implemented other than development costs.

Congrats Chris & others for cashing out! I don't blame you. I'll be saving money now... unless I start making a lot more. Can't wait to see if you guys start a new studio in six years! RIP GGG
Whatever comes down the pipe in the future I'm sure I'll deal with it. But I do like bartering via whispers after follow ups from ingame spam. Maybe its because I'm oldschool, but I found it took away from a lot of gaming experience from other games when I had to take an hour browsing an auction house or trying to patrol my way thru a lagfest zone of vendors overheating my gpu.

Some tips for buying and selling in the current (probably temporary) system:

-briefly and cordially remind people in general chat to join the trade channel. A lot of players may not be aware that the times they are looking for are being auctioned off in the trade channel. The trick is not to spam general chat. Just a friendly reminder every half hour or so.

-describe your items! When you are advertising them in chat, describe the level ranges, and if you can, also describe the type(evasion/es/armor/ele damage/resist/whatever) just give a potential buyer as much info as possible so they just don't see a wall of spam text of item names. No one wants to mouse over twenty items just to find out if they are interested

-walls of text are annoying and daunting as mentioned above. Give as much info as possible whilst making your messages short. Organize them with spacing and characters like :::: ---- it helps a lot

-when buying, say what your buying and what you are paying. Don't mess around. Pay what you consider top dollar and move on. Life's too short and drops accumulate quickly. No need to hoard 120 gcps just to sit in your stash.

That's what the forum does, only they haven't yet added in specific searching functionality. One you get the ability to, for example, find all items linked in that subforum that have 6-linked sockets or search all items with a specific item level that have a specific prefix, it'll be perfect, and it's not too much to assume that's how it is going to be.
Improved trading functionality is coming as soon as we get time. Thankfully we're making good progress getting through the urgent post-open-beta stuff so this is getting closer.

AH: No thanks...
Thank you, Chris. I truly enjoy this game and everything you all are doing to improve it.

I dont mind the trade forums being the way they are (or if it will be the trading system) but it is hard to search for items that ones deem useful.

And I will re-iterate that it IS difficult and tedious to try and find an item worth purchasing.

PS I have an interview tomorrow and I hope I score the job. I cant wait to be able to throw money at you guys (GGG). I really wish I wouldve been able to when the 'supporter' packages were sold

I don't think we are getting an AH. Could be wrong but I think they will sell some sort of other premium/trading stash tabs which are then able to be displayed to buyers in game and on the forum. Maybe that is sort of an AH, but I don't know how it will work.

I made a thread on alch shards a while back and really think those suggestions will help. Would appreciate if GGG people take a look and comment.
