We gotta do something about the state of trading.
Alright, now I want to preface this with a few things before I get to the suggestion.
I love the barter based economy. I love that our currency is 100% infinitely liquid and easily consumed, rapidly. I don't want this to come off as modernist or casual wanting to move away from that, at all. But that said, right now, trading is awful. Searching using the forum search pops a lot of results from archived trading, which I don't have access to. There aren't search params to specify not to search there. Threads roll off the front page in a few minutes or less, when it's busy. In game is the exact same problem, the same dudes, spamming the same trades, over and over. There is no viable way to search for what you want. It's even more frustrating to attempt to sell decent stuff, it ends up being pretty much a crapshoot. I recognize that an in-game auction house might not be viable at this point, and it'd be a lot of work to build something like that from the ground up. However, something like the party system, but with say, a stash tab, or a small handful of things, with a name, could be great. That, or a vending area, where one could browse and offer to "vending" characters that simply have a tab you can pull. Or finally, a searchable, forum based auction house, that isn't threads, or at least, is more searchable. For example, instead of creating a thread, you link an item and it gets it's own sort of entry. This entry can be searched for with a custom search, and someone could search for exact item modifiers, or look specifically through rare prismatic rings, etc. Something, really anything, to facilitate more reasonable trading. Because right now I feel like it's a damned mess. http://i.imgur.com/kyhjZoN.png

There are plans to update and change the trading on the forums. They built the site from scratch to work with the game for a reason and will get it implemented when it is done.

Find your own gear until the trading system meets your approval?

I agree with the OP, but if GGG can do their own thing with the forums as peachii mentioned, that would be just fine. They always make things work. I don't worry about a thing in this game. Just know it is being worked on. It, as in everything you've already thought of.

I played another game that had a fanmade website that was basically for trading. People could put up what they had for sale and what they wanted and it had a search function. It was pretty awesome. Someone should do that.

There should be an ingame sort of 'shop' that acts much like an action house but differently in regards to the cost of an item. I do find it very hard to use the trading forums as I endlessly click on on peoples post but dont see what I need. I also listen to trade chat but it is varied. I find the best way to sell items is to go to that certain area (based on level) and use local chat.
I'm sure this will all be addressed later in the beta. Right now it is a bit rough. I would like to see an IN GAME object that you click on and set level parameters and item parameters (for example ES+armor or just armor or just evasion etc) to locate items for sale. I believe the current system is just a placeholder to what will happen. Don't get me wrong, I dont want an auction house but I do want an easier way to view current items, based on what I am looking for, for sale. " That's an auctionhouse... idk why you're trying to call it something different. Anyways I'm extremely neutral on this. In a perfect world an auctionhouse would be the ideal solution but unfortunately it is detrimental to the game as a whole since it is just too efficient(compared to playing). Based on that I don't think an improvement is needed other then separating trading chat into buyers/sellers. |

" I wasnt clear. Let me explain. You post your items and people are free to respond to said items. I am totally against the 'send offer' type of shit. But instead it would be more like a "im interested what do you want for said item." This then gives the poster a notice saying so-in-so is interested in this item. Then negotiations can begin. IN NO WAY am I supporting people posting certain items and requesting a value amount for such item. BUT this would be a good way for someone to basically say "Hey, I have this item for sale, are you interested? If so lets make a deal." Yes, the search function would work much like an action house so buyers can easily find the specific item they are looking for. While the actual trade deal would be worked out between players in chat instead of a faceless person who is "demanding" a certain amount for said item.
