That nerdrage <3 much love
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

I suppose ggg are trying to do what's best for the game. However, for me it was the worst patch ever, and I'm a closed beta player. They said balance will not affect the core game, but rather affect PVP. This was false. My build just lost too much of its potency, that I lost quite a bit of the fun I had playing it. So much actually that I find myself playing D2 lately.

Nothing was balanced in the tree specifically for PvP.

I'm pretty sure that the 2 major nerfs (crit and block) were balanced largely if not utterly around pvp. Blockers (paired with other avoidance mechanics) were able to stay alive long enough to kill their opponent. Crit dagger builds were often able to 1 shot their opponents regardless of how much they invested in survivability.
So yeah, those mechanics were pretty problematic in pvp, but not nearly as much in pve.

With that being said, I am not angry with GGG as I have no right to. I belive they do what they deem to be healthy for the game (whether or not they are mistaken)
I'm just disappointed.

Thus brings nothing to table for me to try so I stay STD this season.

I came here in ambush everything was new. Then rampage gave masters which was cool. But this league offer me nothing so I sit out.

Umm, I suppose you checked my account and saw that my highest is lvl 40, so you thought I am a noob?
Let me tell you one thing - I have played PoE since closed beta, I played it even before they were handing out beta keys every 5mins, so no, I am not a noob and I have pretty good knowledge of this game.
You, on the other hand, most likely have played under a year, and I would consider you a noob, yes you, not me. Now go and cry a bit more.
Did not even read thread but all I have to say is goodbye and let the door hit you on your way out.

Mods should merge all the patch qq topics into one so they can all reside there.

Closed Beta Member.
I have some mixed feelings about this patch but I personally think it was a pretty good patch overall. I will start off by saying I do not like PvP in any game, it is not my cup of tea. I play games to have fun and relax and care very little about competitive gameplay. PvP in most games revolve around overly inflated internet ego's and finding something unbalanced or broken and taking advantage of it. I am also not very drawn to the new leagues so I am playing in the league that no one cares about...Standard.

Block Nerf - This is the biggest reason for most peoples qqing. I personally do not believe block itself was broken, I believe the ability to stack multiple layers of dealing with damage (Acrobatics, Ondar's, and high block & spell block)and completely forgoing basic AR or EV stats was the problem. I am completely okay with the block reduction being added to Acrobatics for that reason. I also feel that this nerf was more for pvp reasons than pve reasons. This ability has existed in every form of the game and has never been an issue in the past. There are even uniques out there that are built around the idea of high block (R.I.P. Cybil's Paw Builds) The fact that this has never been tended to in the past, and I would even go as far as to say buffed in the past leads to my thoughts of this being catered to pvp for some reason or another. I am perfectly fine with removing the ability stack multiple layers of alternative defenses, I could even get on board with not being able to cap block and spell block at the same time, but to remove the ability for a build that is dedicated to cap block and putting them in the corner of having to use legacy versions of BoR and Aegis to do so was taking it a little to far in my eyes. This nerf crushed 3 of my high level builds. 2 of them I was able to salvage but one of them is completely unplayable and not even able to be rebuilt. I had a significant investment into 2 of them with corrupting the right mod onto Cybil's Paw and crafting the perfect high AR shield with phys damage mod for my facebreaker cyclone. I'm not saying that it should not take a heavy commitment to be able to cap block, but it should be possible if you were willing to dedicate your build to it. I can also to an extent 1/2 way see some peoples argument of make a new build and move along, but I believe there are plenty of ways to entice people to try a new build, destroying their old builds should not be one of them. Trying a new build should be the choice of the player, not the game maker.

Crit- I think they did a good job with this on this patch. I have always felt that crit dps was not the issue in the game but it was the difference between Crit & Non-crit that was the issue. Crit builds had the huge numbers on top of being able to stack the previously mentioned alternative defenses. I think GGG did a great job of closing that gap and making alot of builds a real choice between going crit or non-crit but they did not close it to the point of there not being a benefit to going crit. I really enjoy having to make a real decision on which route to go with certain builds.

New Uniques - This actually may have been my biggest disappointment with the patch. By no means do I expect every new unique added to be a build enabling unique and I did expect alot of them to be for the new leagues and/or Pvp. But for a patch with 26 new uniques and not 1 of them being something to build around was a bit of a let down. A couple of them might find a home in some specialized use in some crazy build down the road and a few of them are borderline and were almost to the point of being capable of supporting a build (I am really trying to like Doomsower and the thought of a pseudo 8 link, but I think it will wind up in the realms of Oro's Sacrifice)

New Gems - I think this is an undervalued aspect of the patch and one of it's main reprieves in my eyes. I have not played with Kinetic Blast or Phys to Lightning yet but I am really digging all of the other skills so far. Static Strike, Reckoning, Vengeance & Riposte are all legitimate in my eyes some even to the point that I see a possible tweak coming in the future. Not much else to say except they were a great addition.

The great should or should not have been made legacy debate - Okay...I do not own Atziri Acuity, yes they are really hard to get and yes they were OP. Did they deserve to be retro-nerfed, was it a mechanic nerf or a numbers nerf. Here is how I see this. On one hand you can quote GGG on saying if it is a mechanic change then they retro it, if it's a numbers change they go legacy. On the other hand you have the if it's broke then fix it argument. Shield changes were a number change...yet they were all retro'd (Only slightly bitter because I invested alot into crafting a rare shield that was retro'd!). GGG has also stated that if they were to do away with legacies then it would take days of downtime to straighten things out. I say pick a side and stick with it. It is pretty obvious that Normal is the "dumpster behind the building" of the game, you don't want people hanging around it but you have to have it. I would gladly accept a few days of downtime if it would result in the game being better and even. I also have a lot of legacies that I really don't want to be without but if everyone is in the same boat then I would not care. If you are going to continue creating legacies then just make it all changes create legacy items, they will only be around in normal so who cares right? I could even deal with a "From now on any item that is changed will be reto'd..enjoy your legacies because we will not be making any more" I would just like to see some consistency on this subject. Legacy them all or retro them all, I will deal with whichever is best for the longevity of the game but just stick with it so I know what to expect in the future.

In the end GGG creates a wonderful game for us at the mercy of doing it for donations. They give us more content on a steady basis than any other game out there. Are things always done in a polished way, no but do you know any of the major companies out there that handle everything in a polished manner even with their huge budgets and thousands of employees at their disposal..I doubt you could name 1. Keep up the good work GGG!
