Why is Mark of the Doubting Knight worth so little?

Even something like lightning coil which is universally good for so many builds sells at 4 chaos. Rarity is a huge factor.

3-4 ex in Beyond. SC leagues are so silly.

Because 3-4ex is reasonable. Hahahahahaha.
Shouldn't really need to point this out, but when you see a list of items for sale on one of these trading sites, the price listed is what they're NOT selling for.

Prices are higher for certain in demand items in non-dumpster leagues.

Meanwhile.... Kaom's Heart and Shav's Wrappings are trading at less than 20 Ex on Beyond League.

LOL STANDARD BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SUCH GOOD ECONOMY! SO REASONABLE!!!
anything is everything

Poison status, defined as a modifier of 'hit poisons enemy', deals 10% of all damage (including physical, elemental, and chaos damage[2]) of the hit that caused it, as chaos damage per second. The effect lasts for 2 seconds, dealing 20% of initial hit damage in total.

"
For the Causes Bleeding on Hit mod, the physical damage over time is 14.2% of the initial hit, per second. While moving, the affected target takes an additional 56.7% of the initial hit, per second.[2] Therefore over the base duration, the target will be dealt up to 354.5% of the initial hit if it was moving the entire time. This is roughly equivalent to level 8 Puncture.

From the wiki. As you can see, just from raw numbers, it looks like a nice damage bonus to attach to the unique. However, all dagger builds (well... most) will have the Adder's Touch notable from the crit cluster. Which poisons on crit anyway. And poison effects (different from Viper Strike) do not stack. The most powerful takes precedence. As for the bleed effect, the more powerful of the two, melee bleed is 'clunky'. In order to get the most out of it, you have to disengage and run away. This causes the mob to move and bleed for the big bucks. However, lots of mobs will not move, they are ranged or casters etc. Void Bears for instance will sit there for the full duration shooting their incinerate at open air. The very act of running away is a loss of dps, as you are not actively raining blows upon the mob. It's only really useful for the few extremely tough bosses that you encounter. If you are doing boss runs with a cheap and cheerful build, then perhaps you could build around it.
It's a PvP weapon.
Only way it can be viable is if GGG makes crit work per damage instance instead of per action. Well that change would make getting casual crit nodes in itself viable.

Thats not exactly true. It can be true if there is only a couple of them, but with items there are 5-10 or more of, it most certainly is NOT true most of the time.

This item illustrates the one trick pony nature of PoE when it comes to damage scaling/survivability for melee play. You have 1 choice. Attack speed.

You have that totally backwards. If there's a lot of an item listed for 5ex, it means that the buyers out there aren't buying them for that much. You might find a buyer willing to pay it, but the item is selling for less if you want to move it.

This is where flipping comes in. If you can handle it, you pick a popular item and fix a price you think you can sustain. Anytime someone puts one up at a lower price, you snatch it up an sell it at your price which is actually higher than the market rate. You profit when you find a buyer willing to pay more than the market rate who is unwilling to try to beat you in your snatching.
