Lvl 77, out of maps, Back to docks? yea right

I think the main point is that end game content shouldn't be reliant on RNG at all. How GGG does this is up to them, but if maps are designed solely as end game content, then even asking for them to be sold at a Vendor is stretching it
Yeah I tend to agree.

I'd only like to see maps sold at NPC's if the price was just too high to justify buying them. My first though was an Exalt orb.

But it would mean maps are always available BUT the price would make it more efficient to farm for them instead.

Chaos

This prevents people from buying multiples in order to vend up, and you can USUALLY buy maps cheaper from trade. This pretty much falls right in line with the rest of what the vendor has to offer.

Chance orb for a fusing anyone?
Well, a idear could be to have the Map boss drop a quest item (instanced) and the said item when traded to a NPC will give a map of your level range.
Make it that you can only have 1 of that quest item at a time on your character.
I would Keep certain map Drop only (best ones), to help keep market on maps trading/sale.

Could help with people not getting map, anyways just a idear.
Purchaseable for a chaos is ideal. Maybee and Alch ;)

it gives an option to grind (if you dont have a chaos) with a shortcut if youre willing to spend the cash.

But don't you think a Chaos is too easy to get making map farming obsolete? I'd rather see the price much higher to ensure farming remains the more viable way to obtain a map.

The main issue I see with setting an NPC price, (no matter how high/low that is), is that it will become defacto in-game trade price.

No, it wont because it is much easier to buy from the vendor than trade, meaning that trade will be cheaper than vendor (otherwise why bother trading for a L66?)

WTT chance for fusing. 1:1
1 chaos orb seems like a good price - and to the people saying it should be crazy expensive to keep farming as the more efficient means of acquiring maps, u r silly. Do you think we should remove the trade forums so farming is more viable than buying and selling gear?

The whole idea is to address the windows of time where you ran out of high level maps and have to work your way back up. If you're progressing through the game and a map drops, that's great. Otherwise you shouldn't be spending 2 hours farming content that is no longer challenging or beneficial in any way just so you can farm content that is challenging and beneficial, it's not fun and it's reminiscent of another game where you also just farm act 3. POE is better than that.

edit: I think the solaris lady npc or one of the a3/4 town NPCs could sell the maps, a new map every time you log in or level up would be good.

People won't pay that much, either a GCP or a Chaos for a white 66 map, when these currencies are so rare. The idea of the OP was that high levels should have constant high level content to play in, avoiding the low level areas grind. Making high level content so expensive is not any better. The endgame (maps) should not be a reward, it should be part of a natural progression. The items that drop in the maps should constitute the reward.
In my opinion, as a "normal" higher level (74) player, I'd say again: better to farm low level areas than to gimp myself of the Chaos orbs I have (actually, to be honest, I only have one... lol).

However. If an efficient trading system would be in place that would allow me to easily sell the good rares I've found (I've vendored so many very good&useful items... many players would have been happy with them. But few bother to go through spam, either in trade chat or trade forums), if such a trading system would exist, then again, I might change my opinion about 1 GCP/Chaos per vendor map.

Until then, I'll actually keep all the maps I have up to maybe lvl 78 or so and instead keep on doing Lunaris. Useful currency is just too rare and I will need it. Hope I don't get too bored though in the meantime...
