I don't want to be done here in POE. I wanna play it forever, that's why i can't hide my frustrations about some of the problems, which are persistent in HC. =/

Beyond is nothing like Invasion. Invasion had challenging bosses that showed up occasionally and dropped decent rewards (eventually). I don't think they ever got the challenge to reward ratio right, though. The invaders seemed to get balanced around new players at the end.

It's like how they implemented kill streaks. The basic idea is fantastic, just like with Beyond. They just chose to go in the worst possible direction.

I expected kill streaks to make my character better as I build up kills. I'd get bonus movement speed, bonus cast speed, and other things that make my character do what my character does better. Instead we get a bunch of shit abilities that I'd turn off if I could. Not a single one of those is an ability I actually want my character to have.

I don't even have a fallback league this time. They're both shit.

Edit: I didn't make it clear that I liked Invasion at every point of the balancing. The idea and implementation were sound. Even if they never got the balance quite right, it was still fun to play. Beyond is not fun. Rebalancing won't make it fun. The spawning mechanic sucks. The sound really, really sucks. I do love the bosses, but I'm not dealing with 99.9% bad league content to play against the .1% good league content.

I wouldnt play on HC because of how we get random deaths in this game.

I mean, just last night I was hummin along nicely on Act 2 in the Den, Cruel diff, I open a box and get frozen, dead....

I come back, kill the mobs, which happen to be 3 rare named Golem things and then the Den mother joins in. So I rush around killing the Bear, the golems and then as I kill one of the golems, he blows up, killing me out of the blue. Full to dead, no questions asked. And I have 100% Resistance to fire why? And yes, 100% in cruel mode, I know its maxed at 75%...how muhc damage did his kamikaze corpse do? Its crap like that I find annoying. Dont kill me cuz I derped into 10 mages and they nuked me dead....naw, some random retarded gimmick of an exploding corpse that deals infinite amounts of damage.

There is also the boss mobs, they seem to be tricky, I have beat them all, including Dom on Normal, but im sure on Cruel and Merci they will do some obscene things that will just insta gib us, ultimately meaning a dead HC toon.

And yes, last but not least is the desync deaths, the absolute most annoying of them all. walk up to engage, get smoked, try to run away, run away, think you got away only to be teleported back 100m right amongst the mobs and murdered. Or in the case today against Gravicius, the PC just kinda froze and when it resettled, I was dead....fun fun...

Plus, no matter how well were geared, our toons never are that tough or durable....plus doesnt HC kinda persuade us to go cliche Sword n Board so we get max defenses and stuff? I like PoE for it's lack of Meta builds, the anything goes kinda thing......If I want cliche holy trinity builds of other RPGs, id play them.
lol i finally died as a lvl 80 with no armour and 3.6k life by the ridiculous new merveil boss in a map and its adds even though i clicked x with my hp at over half.
i did get a lag spike right before hitting x though, but i think the x just logged my char out a bit too late.
good riddance, beyond league is a joke and the game is far too unstable in many a regard to have HC a viable option.

I did hardcore diablo 2 ladders and won several races. That being said, poe is still too new for me, and the desync is brutal. I have the macro commands for quitting and OOS. It just doesn't interest me anymore

Because most of the deaths you will have in this game aren't "oh, I made a bad decision and this could have been totally avoidable", but more along the lines of some ridiculous form of spike damage that takes you from full to death in the span of a few seconds.

I mean heck, imagine that you couldn't use TP for 4 seconds after taking damage, and that you'd have a 4 second delay when using alt+F4.

Right now, GGG is essentially balancing around "well hey, the player can just take a town portal or alt+F4 if things get hairy, so occasionally, we have to kill them so quickly that these options won't' always work"

I.E. I died twice on a wharf map with quad shot mod thanks to voidbringers with far shot. I mean, 60% fire resist + 3k HP -> voom dead in 2 seconds (yes yes, I should cap off my fire resist, I know). Enjoyable? A learning experience? No, not really. Just felt cheesy to me.

Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.
HC requires a totally different approach/play style than I use in SC and completely erodes all the fun for me. There is no thrill, only an ever growing annoyance.

Still is in SC aswell, when you start getting XP Penalties after level 80. But it is sad, that many really good players loose characters worth 12 exalts or more and many of them with solo found gear, that they worked or grinded for hours.

I think they should stop adding content until next year and focus on engine animation polishing textures, improving netcode, servers, adding 3rd party tools as primary tools ingame.


Ps. Oh yes, there should be more variety for the HC leagues and HC in general to provide more fun, not just defensive ways to play.

I don't play Hc yet, because i already "wasted" 600 hours dying for something that i didn't know.
So right now i'm learning to identify those situations and testing my current build with HC in my mind..
After entering Merciless i have died only few times and every one of those are avoitable.

-Ice nova box(x2), first one was at 68 map(characters was 72) and the second one was in 68 map too, but i tought that level 83 character can handle it, nope... ice nova boxes, never again.

-trying to kill Temple Piety on a -max, turbo boss, temp chains map.. yep, that was a fast one.

- Spell Echo got me killed in a temp chains, extra projectiles, -max... when i saw those blue Voidbearers with fast affix, it was allready too late, but i strongly believe that without Spell Echo, i would have survived... so next temp chains map Echo-->Faster Casting/more damage.

- i entered Labyrinthe bossroom with 12 skeletons from Catarina's quest, i thought they would take the agro... well it worked like a charm, but then i decited to get close enough to spam some EK and ofcourse the boss targeted me... 4700 life->0 within a second... :D

- i tested my armour against phys reflect--> 2 crits in a row-->dead

In my book all of these deaths are avoitable, but since i didn't know before i would now have re-rolled 6-7 times.

-one close call, that gave me a valuable lesson:
Colonnade map with temp chains, turbo boss, monster damage... i was not going to agro Carnage, but i have CoDT-setup with summons skeletons... once i got close to the boss, but not close enough, some other monster procced my skeletons, and those agroed the boss who then targeted me and allmost got me...

E: i forget the most stupidest death ever:
I used to do all the strongboxes unid'd just for lols... just hit your potions, click on the box, hit your antifreeze and lightning warp away... what if the box casted silence on me? :D It did and i was spamming my LW like an idiot and died
