Probably the same with what happened to the Device in Sins. :3

Wait; what? That thing had a use?

Yes, back during closed beta, but we don't talk about it anymore.

Someone reveal these dark secrets which died during Closed Beta!

I hope towns don't go away that's one thing I really enjoy about them game since I mostly solo or play with people on my friends list (rarely pub games with strangers) that while you feel alone and isolated on your lone quests when you return to town you meet up with other adventurers on their own quests.

Also d2 had those chat channel where yoi could look at other people characters towns are basically the same thing in poe.

If they let me log in to my hideout, I would rarely be seen in town.
But wait - you still NEED Eternal laboratory to open few maps to get Zana to be invited to your hideout in the first place, right?

Well, unless you leech friends / 820 that is
There is no chance towns will go away. 100% sure.
Cant even understand why ppl doubt it..
But anyway whats the Device in Sins? Somone reply! Dont be scared.

Wasnt that maelstrom of chaos or something? Haven't played that much in CB. Kinda an endless map before maps where a thing if I recall correctly. May be totally wrong though.

The chamber of since device is a uncompleted or unfinished map device. The map device is connected to the lore of PoE itself.

It is an interesting story indeed. Not to go into specifics, but I think it lost it's use by the time the drop buff for founders was implemented.
“Demons run when a good man goes to war"
When he said "the same thing that happened to the one in Sins" he meant it would fall into disrepair and become broken and useless cos lets face it that's what's gonna happen
It was inevitable anyways, once a new act comes out, something needed to happen with the mapping device.

Now if only could monitor the groups from hideouts.
