How is the end game in PoE?

Endgame of poe is way better than that of D3 or D2.

You craft the zones (maps) that you play yourself and you build your charackter around minimizing the risk of dying. Each death costs you 10% of total xp to the next level. Crafting maps so that they a) give good rewards and b) are not too difficult for your build/gear and learning about what mods your charackter has problems with is a big part of the endgame of poe.

Endgame, like the rest of PoE, is evolving. GGG plans on a 10 year development of PoE (from what starting date is unclear), and, tentatively, ten Acts. We expect to see Act 4 in the first quarter of next year, if that gives you any view of the scope of this project.

What does this mean to endgame? More acts possibly means scaling back difficulty levels (of which we have 3, used to be 4), and a LOTTA room for expanded character development. I would even go so far as to suggest that 100 being the maximum level may also change, given that it was originally conceived as a very long-term target by GGG, and can now be reached within the course of a temporary league.

You're still in on the ground floor of a HUGE project, OP, and, in years to come, may find yourself accounted a veteran of the "early days" of PoE. So long as GGG keeps coming up with new and interesting challenges, and so long as their business model remains relevant to the gaming market, PoE has a lotta potential. =^[.]^=

How about a dungeon that gets progressively harder? Start at level 65, end up at level 100? Random map mods for each floor.

Sounds like a worse version of the current system.

This. I mean sure, GGG could implement this as an optional dungeon, why not? The more options the better. But this as THE endgame content? Pls. People don't appreciate how brilliant the map system actually is because they like to rant about RNG walls :P

Every time I ask people 'what kind of end game do you want?', nobody provides an answer :(

Uh huh. Complain about no answers, then kill an answer immediately. There's your answer for why nobody provides an answer! ;)

As for myself, I don't mind the mapping, but would like a non-RNG alternative besides boss farming. Something more random and considerably harder, but actually reachable, would be quite pleasurable.

Endgame is regardless better than most games out there, though.

Well you can't blame me for expecting something better than the current map system when someone complains about the map system :P
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

"Better" is, in this case, subjective. Endless dungeon > Map system when it comes to leveling.

I am a level 20 Marauder ATM and I am enjoying the game. But i'd like to put 300+ hours into my character like in D3.

Does the game offer that enough endgame?

If you like the game and decide to learn the ins and outs of trading map rolling item farming build designing , you can easily lose yourself in POE . Talking about years not hours :)

Sure. With better I mean more fun. Endless dungeon ultimately sounds kinda boring. That's just my opinion though.

So more =/= better? Two choices; maps and dungeon, is NOT better than the current solution (read; only maps)?

What a strange point of view.

What makes "maps" fun for you?

The combat challenge?
The gambling aspect?

Let me quote myself from a couple of minutes ago: 'I mean sure, GGG could implement this as an optional dungeon, why not? The more options the better.'
