Is Shop Too Expensive?

They're not just selling cosmetics. They're selling status. Unless there are many people who consider the item too expensive, there wouldn't be status associated with buying it. People are showing off. If the effects were cheap, they wouldn't be able to. Someone out there has to think that the items are too expensive to give the items a luxury feeling.

Sometimes you're that guy.

I was in a bar once, in Vegas... 1985. There was a guy there who burned four $100 bills, literally burned them, just to get attention and to show the rest of the bar how little he valued $400. That was back when $400 would get you quite a bit of action.

I buy stuff purely for the personal pleasure it gives me, not because I give a damn what other people think.

I consider most the cosmetics to be tacky but certainly wouldn't mind more stash tabs atm.

They are expensive in terms of MTXs in games, at least for what they do. But the reason I have bought several of them is because I've played this game for a year. I've played it a hell of a lot. It has easily been worth that much. It's like buying a few full priced games. Not a bad deal, and I could've just played entirely for free the whole time. So I can't complain.

I also got a shirt out of some of the money I paid. Really not a bad deal at all, actually a good one. Plus I got a Ghostrider head out of it. When the new packs come out, if there are new ones, I'll buy one again. Couldn't really afford the hoodie pack this time, although I really wanted the hoodie. Too many expenses already.

There's a f2p mobile racing game where you can buy cash shop exclusive overpowered cars and the best cars cost between 20 and 100 dollars each.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

yea, lots of games are "free" but they dont charge these kind of prices. Your argument is really pointless, because being free doesn't mean they are justified to charge whatever they wants. With your argument it would be okay if they charged 1,000 per effect because its free.

Lots of "free" games are pay-to-win others are pay for improved RNG.

Path of Exile is free, all you pay for is appearance ( and stash tabs for hoarders ) compared to the other "free" games which have lower prices mainly because they know that most players that want to get better will be forced to buy item X or Y from their cash shop.

5 people buy $20 effect: $100

10 people by $5 effect: $50

Which makes more sense?

Lets say they reduce it to $15 and 10 people buy it. $150...

I can see a bit where the OP is coming from. I think points should be discounted they higher it goes.

50 for $5
100 for $8
200 for $15

There is a very wide variety of prices, and there are daily sales.

Except that it's much more likely to have 30-40 people buy at $5 than only 10 people.

Could also see 15 people buying $10 = $150.
I suppose some people just have to find something to complain about. Be happy that you can play the game without having to spend a dime. It's their creation; they get to decide what they want to charge for cosmetic effects. End of discussion IMO...

The game is free. 100% free in all respects, forever and always, all updates are free, the new expansion will be free, the new act will be free, the one month league will be free, the next new leagues with cool new properties will be free, you can have as many stashes/characters over multiple accounts as you want (and they have confirmed this isn't against the rules) for free. It's FREE. F. R. E. E.

WHAT THE BLOODY HELL DO YOU HAVE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT? Of course the MTX cost a bit more than "other games", other games exploit their playerbase by selling "boosts", or have subscription fees, or combinations of that and other BS! WoW mounts cost $25, server transfers cost like $15 and they still charge you $10/month! And now you can buy a level 90!!! SOE literally sells faster leveling and gear and other nonsense in all their online games! ESO came out with a GAMESTOP EXCLUSIVE HORSE THAT UPS YOUR MOVEMENT SPEED. BUT NO. POE IS THE GAME YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT?!

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU
