Act 4 - Passive Points, Level Cap, Maps oh my!

I never post on here but was curious what early backers / GGG had to say. I know Act 4 will not be deployed until next year, but I'm curious about how Act 3 was integrated into the game and what kind of changes we can expect as for the following:

- The passive point cap will be raised? Lets say there are 3 points via quests in Act 4, time 3 for difficulties, means we would have 9 extra in that example. Is this expected?

- Would the level cap be changed? Currently 100 is hard to get to but higher level monsters means more experience etc. Is this something GGG is thinking about yet?

- Monster level in Merciless would go up. Let's assume the act 4 boss is level 76. This kind of negates lower level maps when you could farm act 4. Do the maps get colored up so to speak? Other options?

Or any other insights into the character leveling and development mechanics that come with such a major update. Insight into how they did it with Act 3 or will do it with Act 4 would be appreciated. Thanks!

I woulnt be surprised if they just Nerf act 1-3 level ranges, and make act 4 max out at level 68.

Dependeing on the length of act4, they can reduce the number of difficulties to NG and NG+.
They might surprise us, but the consensus on the forums that I've seen is that when Act 4 is introduced we will be reduced to two difficulties and the level / passives etc will remain the same.

IMHO, the game doesn't really need any more power creep - no need for all that new crap. Been plenty of power creep based on new unique items.

1: Probably. When Act 3 was added, there were additional point rewards for quests.

2: Probably not. The games eventualy goal is to have one big difficulty with heaps of acts in it, so it'll balance around that I imagine.

3: don't map, so can't comment

4: GGG will either have to reduce monster levels or cut out another difficulty when another act is added. It'll probably be the former.

Knowing GGG, access to act 4 will be entirely RNG based.

Perhaps even the entire game.

Players could play a slightly less awesome version of PoE, grinding away for a real PoE drop.

To be honest though, they will probably just dumb down their already trivial content and throw in a few more 1 shot bosses in act 4. keep the tradition going, ya know?

What act is gated by RNG?


When did I say an act was gated by RNG?

max level will stay at 100
probably max lvl of monsters of act4 merciless will be 70 or 72
it will be easier to lvl up maybe because of a lvl 79map which will make vaal temple droppable and a lvl 80 map like the current lvl 79

more passive points=higher difficulties in act4 and maps

It's the cleanest solution.
