would GGG sell license for a "pay to win" server?
" Not to mention you have to buy the tabs with gold in D3 which sucks because you dont have much space unless you get them eventually. Should be free bunch of tabs from the beginning and 4 tabs in POE plus easy muling and multi acacounts is easy enough. |

" A legacy moderator tag? Thats the most stupid thing i have ever heard in my life. If GGG has really left a moderator tag there just for "looks" then i am highly shocked. If i see, and im sure most other people, see a moderator tag.. Then we naturally assume the said person IS a moderator. Im honestly shocked. And it is a legitimate point, just because you may not agree with it makes it no less legit. I don't agree with your point of view but your view is still legitimate. EDIT: You do not have unlimited muling options. You are allowed 2 accounts, they have a limited number of character slots. To get more slots you need to use, you guessed it, real money. And btw, i have 19 stash tabs of which 15 are premium. I admitted defeat i am just realistic to the situation. adania/93 --- ElementalNecro/91 --- GwanSauceMan/90 ScionFakeWitch/88 --- WikiWikiWitch/87 --- LArrowToTheKnee/83 Lethal_Injection/80 [b color="#FE2EC8"][b color="#FFAC12"][/b] Last edited by adania#4013 on Jun 1, 2014, 1:02:45 PM

" You are allowed as many accounts as you want, just only two active on the same computer at a time. You can have 3 computers running 2 characters each for 6 characters. You just have to be controlling each and every one of them manually. There are unlimited muling options. |

" That's not agreeing with the OP. That's being creative within what I also consider GGG's current definition of pay to win. With the void league, GGG made it possible for 'custom' leagues to be significantly easier/more generous than the parent. I've discussed this with Chris at length, several times. The void league was the most exciting thing to happen to the game imo. It rendered the formerly golden rule of 'no league must be easier than the parent league' redundant. As for the overlay? That should be free. As should a loot filter. If they're going to do either. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

off-topic response to adania
" I completely agree, which is why I asked Samantha to remove it last week. She did so, but then I lost the code in my signature, which I consider to be a fair 'perk' for my months of free service as a volunteer moderator, and which I am not abusing. So it stays for now, given the understanding that 'forum moderator' is widely known to be a redundant tag. They're going to change it at some point, once they settle on a decent title. Also, even when I was an active moderator, I was well within my rights to post as I have here. It was part of what made the whole thing attractive to me -- we weren't GGG drones, just very passionate players who exemplified what, at the time, seemed to be fairly standard Path of Exile players in terms of conduct and attitude. This has always been a mature setting, and words like 'fuck' and 'shit' have never, ever been disallowed. It all comes down to how you use them. This remains true. But I do agree that the 'badge of honour' that is the current 'forum moderator' tag is stupid. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between. " LOL WHAT? Take it from someone who used to wage war against people making many accounts just to fuck with the forum -- you can make as many as you want, and they all come with 24 character slots and 4 shared stash tabs standard. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between. I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. Last edited by Foreverhappychan#4626 on Jun 1, 2014, 6:05:42 PM

(LONG read, final response on this thread)
I don't like comparing what I was talking about to blizzard's D3 as some have brought up with others. I prefer to compare this to a few java games that look like crud (not that POE looks like crud) but make MASSIVE sums of cash, where they are pay to win as you would describe them. Various companies have access to the parent game, mess with them as they want, and a parent company gets paid. I know a woman who spent 1200 dollars, on a moronic looking 2D horse in her game, to up her fighting ability. I won't name the game but i'm not lying. To me it's crazy, but others, will, pay, through, the, teeth, for, things. Their business and their right. I don't care what Blizzard etc want/do, if there is a market for such things, GGG should be jumping on it AS LONG AS THEY STAY TRUE TO THIS PARTICULAR VERSION'S IDEALS, for this game of POE. If GGG can make money with others making a POE variant, separate game, awesome. A win for everyone. i USED to want to make the pay to win'ish changes here... break down resistance to it. As stash tabs are slightly already pay to win as some of you describe it. But i decided many of you really are just hardcore "NO WAY" on this issue so why should i push to screw up your ideal game setup? So i came up with the idea of doing it the way this thread describes... licensing POE out for other devs to tweak in an entirely SEPARATE game(s), cash for advantage though. The licensed out POE versions, shouldn't be all out pay to win like the java game i described, but should have like, a max of 2 transactions active on a character at a time, changeable 1 time per day. Prevents someone with 1000 bucks stacking his characters insanely and swapping things in and out for every situation. i don't like the idea of possibly SPLITTING this community with other POE versions created, between cash for fighting pets etc people, vs no advantage people. But my thoughts on that are the numbers would take off, not remain stagnant and thus like, half here half there. I am sure POE would gain followers, not stay followers-neutral. I say this because the market IS there for limited pay to win (as you call it), and right now it isn't being tapped into at all... and could be, on a licensed out POE, different game. The numbers in the other game would rise, and word of mouth would increase for POE, which many of them would prefer the NON cash POE version/game. (aka, they'd come here instead). As for dev time for such things as someone mentioned, for mercs or fighting pets etc... can it really be hard to do such things? Maybe by GGG priorities, but where there's a lot of money, there's a way... (there's very little money incentive for GGG to do them). we already have zombies and spectres of all sorts, seems obvious someone could dev a frog that shoots fireballs, a totem that says random things while blinking around attacking people, or 500 other things you could come up with. Many many things could be developed at high priority in the other games, that GGG may never develop themselves because of the nature of their version of POE (aka, mainly cosmetics/stashes make their money)... all of which GGG could tap into over time, depending on contracts. good for all. OK i'm done. everything i can say on this subject i'm sure has been covered. Later. |

>gameserver gets leaked
>private servers get created That's how Mu Online private servers started, official Webzen files get leaked, even though they're extremely old versions they get reverse engineered and updated through hooking DLLs. No racism intended but those countries that were licensed GGG software are the ones that are prone to leak server files. Honestly a PoE private server with resets and having like 500 points would be something to play once in a while, and I'm sure since this game's item system is so dynamic the custom items would be awesome. But that's just me. Of Course global PoE will be home, but something to relieve stress is awesome too! Edit: If this does happen it would not be emulation, it would be running GGG's server side files and unpacking the client to connect to your IP. Once the base files for any version of the game gets released, it will instantly be dissected. This community is not big enough to make a 100% server emulator from scratch like many games have (maplestory for example), and so wasn't Mu Online. Once Mu's 0.78 server files were released it was the beginning of something awesome! Had to change signature because poe.trade listed thread from 2013.
