PoE vs Diablo 2 aka Your opinion on PoE
" You are missing the point. Gem skill system is based on RNG, this game CAN easily give you everything overnight if you are lucky, and you won't need to invest any effort, OR you might not get what you want and then you will have to put more effort than usual. As I said, I personally don't like basing my thought out builds on luck. This game is not difficult, this game is random. |

I can see this being an Epic Rap Battle of History.

" lol, yeah. I guess I find it strange that you either get the design or don't (my opinion obviously). Doesn't seem to be any middle ground. Weird. |

There is no question - diabo2 is much more refined game.
Sound music Animations Memorable not generic mobs (some are annoying yes) Artwork is superior and the story is way stronger than the one of PoE. However PoE still have a good shot to become much better game. It is already good game but not refined. It could improve in all areas. I wish PoE will become less generic and more unique. I dislike rarity so much im almost quitting poe2. GGG.

" Then go and play diablo2 if its so better i dont understand people like you, all they do is say diablo2 way better, best game and so on but they play other game instead of that uber awesome one, if you are not playing that one it means its not that good as you say since you are not playing it. |

" RNG has nothing to do with building a unique character. You choose your passives, you choose your gems, you even choose your own items as you can trade for things you need. In fact I start making builds without even owning the items required for the build as I have confidence I will get them.Sometimes drops inspire me to make builds but they don't control me. " RNG? Almost every single gem is obtainable through quests... If you do some research there really is 0 RNG involved. ''Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters.
The silence is your answer.'' IGN: Vaeralyse |

Essentially where we are at right now is - Base Game. The basics are here, as well as some extras - but essentially this is the base game. More items, more maps, more content in general, refinements - etc etc etc ad nauseum are all coming. Hence the usage of the term BETA. It hardly makes sense to knowingly add more stuff if the system is unable to handle the basics under stress - amirite? So ... there you go.
I'm sure in a year or 2 this will be better than even the nostalgia of D2, and if not - well this isn't D3 - that ship has sailed, this is PoE. In other games - you get a cookie whether you win or lose. PoE not only takes your cookie and eats it in front of you, it slaps you upside the head a few times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

" You have to find the gems, you have to find where to stick them and you have to find how to link them, and you get random gems and random gear. Gems are your skills, and as such you in other words FIND your build. You can make a short cut with orbs sometimes, but those are also based on RNG. Gems - 50% of the build. Passive tree - the other 50% of the build. The way I feel about about forging and random items is the same as if the passive tree would pick a random skill for the player every time, and if you didn't like it you would re-roll it back with orbs of regret until your passive tree went on the specific path YOU want. Items are the same, they compromise skills, compromise builds, until you get lucky and get what you NEED for YOUR build. I am ok with random stats on equipment, that's what makes these games fun, but when actual skills are involved as loot, it's very hard to plan and make your build work, because it's RNG. |
