Diablo 3 : real money auction house - confirmed

I'm ok with the RMAH, will be interesting to see if it is successful.... if it is i have a feeling it will be in more games in the future..
Stopped reading after 3 pages.

However, I noticed a disturbing trend.
A lot of people are indifferent, or worse, fond of the idea.

People PAYING real CASH for ITEMS in a game that's supposed to be about HUNTING for the ITEMS in the game world. So much, that there are ITEMS THAT HELP YOU FIND ITEMS BETTER!!

It's crazy.

Also, to everyone justifying a developer supporting this kind of thing officially.
Saying, "It happens anyway, so this is no different", are foolish.

This will cause a majority of players to engage in this activity, rather than the likely 5-10% of the player base that did unofficially.

It's going to ruin the game, imho.

Crazy hope for a No RMAH Realm :(

Almost forgot, though I don't think it needs to be stated.

I don't think GGG would ever implement this in their game.

They know it's complete bs and literally ruins a game that's about the aquistion of items through a distinct type of gameplay.

EXACTLY.

I can't, REALLY can't understand why people would to buy items, whereas the trademark of Diablo always was the hunting for new and better items. The excitement, the joy, everything's lost when you just buy them for real money.

This game's just now a heaven for gold and item farmers. Great work Blizzard (ironically, they really did a great job in increasing their wallets with their new system). >_>
My little tribute to Diablo 1 aka why Diablo 3 is the worst part of the series.

Not this again...you still find ways how to justify screwing the game for ALL the competitive gamers, in favor of all those who prefer to cheat instead of accomplishing something themselves...have fun in D3.

I choose to play arpg instead of a shopping simulator...

Especially when that shopping simulator, as you call it, is totally optional. Right.

Something that legalises cheating (thus making any of my item finds nothing but a buck or two...completely devaluating my achievments), becomes the basis of economy and affects anyone who ever trades/coops is optional? Right.

@Diablo1reborn: nowadays sooo many gamers just want to HAVE things, not to ACHIEVE them. Because you see they have LIFE (or at least many claim so) and obviously spending more than a few hours over a month to become the mightiest warrior in the game world is completely retarded and they should just be handed everything so they can show off and log out. PLAYING THE GAME for several evenings or even weeks or MONTHS (OMG!!!) to achieve all that would be plain stupid. Thus all the instant gratification that made WoW and alike such a success. Sad...and don't ask me wheres the fun in having things you didn't earn...in a GAME. I better stop there ^^

I got an aswer to that...

For them that does not have time due to work and such and still want to play the game and NOT spend all their time playing to aquire them good stuff that require much effort and time that they does not have.

They are more then willingly paying a small amount of real money to get them things to keep up, and problem would be soloved by that kind of auction house with real money as well as ingame currency for an other option.

Extreme speculation on how the D3 economy will pan out is extremely naive and foolish. The only thing we DO know is that RMT always happened before and it even happened on a huge scale, huger than you know.
I think it's an interesting idea. If we look at valve with tf2 and the success they're having with it, not to mention the upcoming dota2 tournament with 1 mil $ grand prize.. I think this shop thing is shaping the future in the sense of helping people to have some benefits doing something they like. It will be nice if D3 will be f2p and I think, more successful. But we'll see.
I personally dont care. I will play Diablo III with friends (who dont use RMAH) only, I will not use RMAH as well, and I will be okay. If someone likes to ruin his game by buying items for real money...okay, not my business. Their fault :)

EDIT: Even if someone buys some super gear for money, what then? He´ll just kill monsters faster, and because there is no PK, it wont affect your game. It wont even affect arenas, because they will win some matches and get higher rating so in the end people with best items will play people with best items. Thats how matchmaking will work, just like in SC2.
Hodor? HODOR!

The real money auction house is useful for people that don't WANT or HAVE the time to invest in LOOTING items or gold but they do have real cash they're willing to invest. More power to them, they don't affect my gameplay experience and ANY item they are buying was simply from another player that looted the item which I'm more than capable of looting myself, for free. =) It's not Pay2Win, the Diablo franchise has always been mainly a COOP game, even this new Arena PvP is just for fun and nothing serious and they even admitted it won't ever be balanced LOL... just relax people and enjoy all these great games =)
