Is Molten Strike too powerful as a starter's gem?

Hi guys,

I usually play a duelist. In the last two races where I participated I tried out this new Molten Strike gem. Personally I thought it was too powerful and has made "Cleave/Double Strike/Fire Trap" obsolete.

I love to play using 2H-Swords with cleave/double strike/fire trap. Now I will just go for 2H-Maces with "Molten Strike" in races. However I don't think it is sexy ;-) - and I will refrain from using it in my regular chars.

What's your take guys?
The light at the end of the tunnel is nothing but a muzzleflash.

Agreed, it would sit much better with me as a level 24 gem.

Well, they'll probably do something to it once the two week race is over, so don't get too attached to it.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

What's wrong with powerful starter gems? A man's gotta level.

If you want to argue end-game viability, I think it's fine. It's basically just a fire version of lightning strike, and nobody even uses LS anymore.
my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes

Bug Fixes:
People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it.

it is too powerful. it is spectral throw MK II

it is a skill made to make people use it. typical f2p 'bone' thrown to players on verge of leaving. previous 'normal' skills did not work. but skill that is clearly jack of all trades and does that 'all' as good as previous best skills (or better) isnt easy to pass

i expect nerf after two week race
Yeah. God forbid there's a pseudo-ranged-melee option to ST for people to optionally use. Everything must homogenize!

Nerf it all

What's different that makes molten so op that doesn't apply to lightning strike?

I tried using the skill and it was strong, but it suffers from drawbacks such as physical leech not working that well with it, having a frontal cone aoe, and delayed damage while the blobs fly out.

It felt powerful but idk if I'd call it op needs nerf yet. I dropped it for double strike and melee splash.

It hits way more targets than LS.
It can hit one target multiple times.

I like MS in the submerged passage levels.

You hit the melee crab things with the melee attack, they die and the little crawling shooters pop out, but immediatly die from the projectiles. That's such a time saver... ;)

False. Lighting Strike can Chain and when something chains it isn't randomly generated to a spot where no mobs are even standing, perhaps a barrel or a pot but that's almost irrelevant.

Can hit one target multiple times and will hit the target multiple times are two very different things which I think is addressed with the less projectile damage gimp.

It is strong, quite strong with the right set-up, but then.. Isn't everything? O_ o These blood magic molten strikers won't even come close to the deeps of a crit lightning striker. A crit molten striker woo.. I can only imagine the kind of ci build that has to pull that off and get point blank is going to be horribly gimped defense wise in one way or another..

this alone makes the already good skill into something insane. interaction with Point Blank and Iron Grip while STILL being a 'melee' skill makes it 'multiplier heaven'

and it had just made Heavy Strike redundant
