1: Anarchy Online (Awsome MMO since 2001. It is still a great game even though it is old. It is currently going through a total makeover with rebalance and new graphic engine but who want to pay2play after they seen PoE beta?)
2: Diablo 2 (D1 was great, LOVE to play the Ranger and place an arrow in the back of my friends while playing lan, but i admit that i spend more time playing D2 afterall) 3: Counter Strike 1.6 (Still fun if your drunk at lan) Users devided in nationalities: www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/11469 Last edited by Pope#0949 on Oct 19, 2011, 7:31:33 PM

Diablo 1 was great, BUT it had some things that could not make my pick it over Diablo 2. The first being WALK in town. I *hate* that.
The second being hit recovery. Early game trying to kill the Butcher with a melee weapon was TERRIBLE. Fixed eventually with HR normalizing gear, but it is/was terrible from memory. Diablo 2 + LoD is probably one of my favorite games, because I can STILL go back and play it. Also one of the few RPGs I've actually gotten around to finish. Most I lose interest, no matter how good they are. Portal + Portal 2 would be at the top of my list as well. I absolutely love the two games, and am a HUGE fan of Valve as well. Not a single negative bit about them, and I think Stephen Merchant was a wonderful choice for Wheatley. As for the third...honestly hard to say. My favorite RTS was Supreme Commander + Forged Alliance (did not enjoy the SupCom 2). I Really enjoy TES game as well. I honestly might have to say Minecraft. Other than Diablo 2, it is probably one of the only games I have consistently played, and probably KEEP playing for years. In short: Diablo 2 + LoD Portal 1 + 2 Minecraft Reasons above. I try to be as respectful as I can to you, whether I agree with your opinions or not. I only ask that you grant me the same courtesy.

1. Diablo 2
I put countless hours into this game and have played it off and on since the game released. It's by far the best action rpg to ever be created. Literally nothing has compared in my mind. The amount of customization in the game is absurd. I probably restarted a character over 100 times, but I know that even making character 101 would be just as exciting for me. 2. Call of Duty (the original) This was the first game that I ever played competitively. It was an average game to pub, but once I joined a team and started competing on CAL, it was an absolute blast. I was just so enthralled by the community and made a lot of online friends through the game, many of whom I still keep up with today. This was a time when frag videos were actually cool and still fresh and original. Every Call of Duty that has come out since then has been progressively less fun for me, despite the fact that CoD4 did make improvements to pubbing. 3. Starcraft Even though Warcraft II was the first RTS that I actively played, I never got into it as much as I did with Starcraft. I enjoyed the campaign a great deal. I remember waking up before school just to complete a mission. This was the first game I played in which custom games were allowed with a map editor. I had so much fun with so many different custom games that I couldn't even begin to describe everything. It was just phenomenal. I never did get into it competitively like I did Starcraft 2, but I think overall Starcraft just holds more of a special place for me, even if I prefer to play Starcraft 2 now. Runner up: World of Warcraft The game gets a lot of hate, but I played the game from open beta all the way through WotLK. The game was at its peak through the original and with BC, but then it steadily declined. At its peak though, it was a very engaging game that was a ton of fun to play. The carrot on a stick was always there, but it never felt like a grind in the beginning. Once WotLK came out, I never seemed to have very much fun. I only kept playing because of my guild and all the friends I had. I finally bit the bullet and refused to play Cataclysm. Best decision of my life. |

Okay. I am definitely dating myself with my top 3 games of ALL TIME. But I have the fondest memories of these games:
1. Star Control II 2. X-com: UFO Defence 3. Wing Commander To me, Star Control II was the perfect combination of arcade action (fights were handled ship to ship on a 2D gravity map with warping map edges), rpg (you had to acquire resources and research/buy technology to upgrade your mothership or purchase ships for your fleet), and sandbox play (open galaxy map for you to explore). It had a great story, with memorable characters (alien races) and a well integrated soundtrack. X-com: UFO Defence was the first game that made me literally say out loud "Just one more turn!" because it was a highly addictive turn based tactical squad game on one level, and a resource management/empire building simulation on the global/intercept level. A deep tech/knowledge/research tree that uncovered additional information as you were exposed to the various alien types and technologies were the 'hook' that kept you going for "Just one more turn!". Wing Commander was just a ton of fun arcade style space combat simulator. For some reason, they don't make games like these anymore. Sure there are a lot of games that look really pretty and they might contain stuff that sure blows up nice, but after a few hours of play, it all becomes rinse and repeat... I do have a soft spot for Diablo style arpgs (hence my presence here on this forum), but if you break down the formula for this game it is really just: 1. A 'paper doll' game: dress up your character to: look cool or to do the best at [insert field here]. 2. A gambling simulator: "Let's see what the RNG procedural item generator is going to give me this time?" 3. A collecting/pack-rat game: "Do I have all the uniques/skill gems/weapons/etc? (Gotta catch 'em all!)" All wrapped up in one shiny package. That's why it's so darned addictive... "We were going to monitor the situation but it was in the wrong aspect ratio."
