List here known types of scams in PoE

Most common spam is imo "WTB all your currency at the following shitty rates". This is also the most annoying one to me because those people spam trade chat all day...

About the lotteries: I wouldn't call them scam per se.
Surely there are some people who don't pay the advertised price money but most lottieries are legit.

Of course the promised payout is never as much as the one hosting the lottery gains from it himself but if that weren't the case, why would anyone waste his time doing a lottery in the first place?
Also if i play the lottery irl, it's the same: If i win, i win a lot more than i initially paid. If i lose, i lose everything i paid. Whatever happens, the people doing the lottery always win as only some of the ticket price goes into the jackpot and some of it is pure profit.

If you go to any casino anywhere in the world, it's the same thing: The bank always wins.

Obviously, gambling isn't an opportunity to make profits in the long term. It's a game, where you risk a small amount for the small chance to win a big amount.

Every sane* adult (and minors shouldn't even be playing PoE) knows that gambling isn't a reliable business model, except of course for the host.
This doesn't make it a scam. On the opposite: If you understand the deal you're getting into with all its implications, you're not getting scammed by definition.
(* Some people with a gambling addiction seem not to understand that in the long term, they can't win. Still, better if those people lose their ingame currency than their rl money...)

I once hosted a 6s lottery myself when my Lightning Coil just didn't get 6 sockets, even after wasting more than 2ex in jeweller's on it.
A few people spend some stacks of jeweller's and didn't get nothing in return. In the end, someone gave me 7 jeweller's and got 15 chaos out of it. Actually, i didn't even profit from that lottery because from the >900 jeweller's i've used on that chest, only about 200 were from people trying their luck.
Still, i got my 6s, so i was happy. That dude got almost 15 chaos for free and was happy too.
Some other people gave me their Jeweller's and got nothing in return, which didn't make either them or me happy, but well, that's the game.

Bottom line: You can say all you want about lotteries but they aren't really scams, except of course for those who are because people don't pay the offered price money.

(Btw. i have also tried my luck in a few lotteries from other people. Usually i spent a single fusing and hoped to be lucky. I wasn't and didn't mind, because i never gamble with more money than i am willing to lose.
If you gamble too much currency and lose all of it, you might feel scammed but actually you only got yourself to blame!)
SFL scam.

Dont want to play SF in any league because RMT? Right, SFL accounts can be sold and its still RMT.

I don't know why this game attracts so many greedy people

Anonymity + wealth/items directly affecting the power of a character and access to gated content + lack more controlled tools like an AH + legacy items that lead to astronomic prices for a relatively large number of items + lack of social consequences (the naming&shaming policy protects these people, though I understand why that policy exists). The result is what we have.

The game encourages and rewards both greed and morally dubious behavior. This adds to the "cutthroat" atmosphere of the setting, but doesn't make the game a more socially cooperative experience. I think this appeals to the younger male audience in particular, but may not be equally as appreciated by people who are not looking for social competition in their recreation time.

I'd had not done any trading in Domination, and only little in Ambush (as a shortcut), so the option to not participate is there. Though with the game being designed around trading, it's basically playing in hard mode and with a handicap.

Short allocation in a nutshell:

Totally different scam:

Small party encounters Cartographers Box in high level map.
Leader rolls it a few times
At one point he hits an Ice Nova modifier
Another guy quickly opens the box
Leader gets killed by Ice Nova as he is literally stunned by what happens
Rest of party take the maps.
Dear Maligaro,
I left my head in San Francisco, I lost my legs in Peru
My liver and kidney are on holiday in Sydney
And I am sending my Heart to you
--- Love, Malachai
