[Official] WINE info thread

Well, place your bets ladies and gentleman. Will the new engine be playable on Wine + DXVK or not? :)

Mac support is announced, so it's promising.

Yeah, that is going to be really interesting... fingers crossed.

Im hoping that we can easily use the mac client, so my bet is on it will work, and maybe even better.

Good to know the Vulkan port is a big focus and that Chris mentioned Linux in particular. We have come a very long way guys. I actually applied for alpha testing back in the original closed beta partially to keep them up to date on the performance of PoE in Wine, and have been playing it in Wine since then, watching all the different ways the community has been improving the performance. Amazing to see how far it's come and that they actually kept this small section of the community in mind.

So, question to those who use ASYNC patch with DXVK - do you apply the patch yourselves or using precompiled package?
I use Arch btw.

I compile it myself just to stay at the bleeding edge. I use an edited version of the dxvk-mingw-git PKGBUILD in the AUR to apply an updated version of the ASYNC patch (since the original author doesn't update it anymore).

If you want to try it out, get the package and replace the PKGBUILD with this: https://gist.githubusercontent.com/milesmeloro/9c9a6c0cce2e5fbf6ae596d772eec6e8/raw/b93423ade6bd459ede0aa9e42a87a8da6110955f/PKGBUILD
same name in-game
I'm so happy as I heard Chris talking about Vulkan and Linux. The game at the moment runs pretty good on my specs but if the official Vulkan support comes, I bet it will be even better.

Yeah, I ended up doing it myself too - using TKG builds. Not even sure there are precompiled versions of DXVK with async, they're all afraid of users being banned or something. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Vulkan support is huge. I already had situations in the past where Wine +OpenGL ran better than the native counterpart and out of the box. (torchlight + amd gpu)

If this is what PoE runs through WINE if there's no D3D involved, I'm as happy as a clam!
Perception is reality.
Hi guys, I'm not sure if ACO was mentioned but it seems it can be used already to run PoE, here he does everything live on stream from setup to playing the game : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fm_mzPBnWB0
