I use spiders, acid cloud and piranhas coupled with dogs and gargantuan to tank and heal and still have use for crit damage. Anyway, even if you don't need crit damage per se, if you have socket you can always socket ruby so it's always better to have socket that to not have socket, though is maybe less critical then.
Maybe. But i still find it stingy and a fair trade, not something OP, that you have to give up 7-900+ in vitality/intelligence for 1 socket on the weapon. My current one gives me 800 int 800 vit, and i i have to trade 1 of those away for a socket. Not worth it IMO
WE're doing a somewhat similar build! I like it. The dogs healing = OP!

Especially coupled with Midnight Feast and about 5K LoH :) But Acid Cloud tick LoH worse now (I was using LoH long, long before 2.0), so it's kinda balanced. Anyway, WD can use LoH most effectively from all classes.

Because 140% critical dmg. When you have 50% critical chance, that much dmg makes or breaks an item. A 1900 Dps weapon with less int but with a socket does 13% more dmg.
Edit: while it is true paper dmg doesn't always mean more. When you have 50% crit, a weapon without the socket is worthless.
Let's say you got 45% from ring, 45% from 2nd ring, 45% from glove, 90% from neck.
In diablo 3, the base crit damage is 150% (non-crit is 100%).
With 50% crit chance, relevant factor without 130% crit dmg from weapon (140% is extremely expensive): 1 + 0.5*(1.5 + 0.45 + 0.45 + 0.45 + 0.9) = 1 + 0.5*3.75 = 2.875
With 130% crit dmg from weapon:
1 + 0.5*(3.75 + 1.3) = 3.525
3.525/2.875 = 22.61% more dmg
----------
This is precisely what I am talking about: it is easy to get good, far harder to get perfect.
22.61% more dmg is not the whole world, specially since it usually means that you got a 500+ vit instead of crit dmg, which is usually around 10%ish more life.
In PoE, the difference between "what I find on my own rather easily through drops/crafting" compared to "almost perfect" , is over 100% more dmg.

Your logic was so horribly off with ARPG experience. "An item you are gonna use is wasted effort" has no place with ARPG.
Who are you quoting? Not me, that's for sure.
Sometimes I'm really wondering if my English is terrible or people are too stupid to understand what I say or they just read what they want to read. Probably a mix of all three x)
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

It's a 4 primary mod item, I'm not losing anything :) 2200 dps, 749 int, 745 vitality, extra mod, and 2 secondaries.
Like I said earlier, it's just funny that if you get fucked by RNG, it only gets WORSE in D3.

I don't like how when Blizzard needs to 'balance' a feature of the game, they end up removing it completely.
I'm sure i'm not the only person who finds the entire removal of meaningful trading from the game highly annoying.

Like a broken record...
I'm again reminding you about socket/link/chrome system, which is incredibly worse than socketing in D3.

Interesting, because I'm pretty sure max stat rolls on legendaries is 750. Unless you got a set bonus

Indeed. Broken record. One is static, while the other is exponential in price.

It goes higher than 750 on lvl 70 legs.
Edit: Sorry! I might be wrong here!
