►►► PROBLEM with purchased "Black Cat pet" ◄◄◄
Hi,
I have just purchased a black cat pet, perfect for my witch and also to support financially the dev team for this great game. BUT... ! I'm disappointed about how it works... EVERYTIME I select my witch and enter a new game session, I have to open the microtransaction stash and link the goddam cat to my witch. This is really boring and I'd like the cat to be permanently linked to my witch, until *I* decide to put it away. What's more, sometimes the cat just stands still in town and doesn't follow me anymore. I have to open the microtransaction stash, unsummon/resummon it to get it back following me... Once again, this is NOT what I expected when I purchased this microtransaction. I intend to buy more microtransactions, namely special effects for my weapon and shield. BUT for now I have decided not to, because I absolutely don't want to have to reactivate each effect/pet every single time I start a new game session. Thank you for reading, and please let me know what it's all about it and if fixes or improvements are planned about this. *FNX_Heroes |

This is how all pets work. They aren't auto-summoned, nor are they "linked" to anything.
Just open up your MTX page and right-click the Cat at the beginning of your play session. It will stay spawned throughout the rest of the session (until you leave or are disconnected). If you'd like this changed, I recommend posting in the Suggestions or Feedback subforums as this is not a Technical or Account related support issue. |

" Thank you for your answer, I'm feeling a bit cheated because this "detail" wasn't mentioned anywhere during the purchase process. And there's a big difference between "purchase cat and forget it" and "purchase cat and don't forget to summon it everytime"... :(( Can you tell me, is it the same for weapon and armor effects ? If yes, then I'm sorry but I won't purchase any other effects until they are automatically applied throughout gaming sessions. |

No.. the difference between the "effects" and the "pets" is how they function.
When you apply an armor effect, it is attached to the armor itself. The armor takes the new effect and looks that way until you remove it. The Pets on the other hand are "summoned" and can be summoned on any character.. so it's not tied to a specific character on the account. This means you can summon the cat on any character you log into immediately without having to reclaim it. |

" OK I understand, it's not very handy though. But concerning the 2nd concern, it's more annoying, quite often the cat is sitting there doing nothing. I have to unsummon and resummon him to get him working... :( Whatever it is, bug or poor AI, it has to be corrected/improved ! |

Just trying to think of a game where the companion pets stay permanently at your side and for the life of me i can't think of one, the only "pets" that stay in other game are combat pets, PoE handles those differently because of snapshotting.
If you are unhappy with the MTX btw you can ask support via email for a refund(they just remove the pet and reimburse you the points it cost) Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

" I remember torchlight 1 pets were persistent. Personally I would prefer the same for PoE :/ No longer a forum dweller, please use PM for contact purposes.

" That's been a problem since closed beta when, for some if any reason, pets got stuck with an old version of a not-so-intelligent minion AI. There are good days and bad days but lately it seems to be more on the bad side again. Exit, pursued by a Plummeting Ursa.

Agreed, the devs have heard this complaint/suggestion ever since pets were introduced. It's so annoying.
Pretty sure they will change it over to their new "character effects" slot when they make time. |

"Thank you, I think I will do this and invest the points in another "automatic and not AI-related" effect, like stash premium tabs or weapon/armor effects. If the pet effect is corrected and improved someday, I'll purchase it again. Thank you, *FNX_Heroes Last edited by FNX_Heroes#6628 on Mar 29, 2014, 9:11:57 AM
