devourers in maps

Bumping this, I nearly ripped twice to the damn things.

Absolutely no. Devourers. Do. Not. Work. That. Way.
I've never had problems with them until today, since they don't seem to spawn in large quantities outside of "animals" and Untainted Paradise.

1-month HC toon with over 5k hp nearly ripped to a pop-up in Paradise, and it's not possible to move away anyway since:
1) They spawn in large quantities.
2) They have huge hitboxes, effectively walling you in.

Got away with 500 life or so maybe. Did the rest of the map by throwing conversion traps everywhere I walked. Unfun.

Other was me just doing a Zana daily in HC. A toon with nearly 13-14k hp between life and ES nearly ripped and only getting away with a similar amount of life as the above toon.

Ridiculous. I refuse to do animals mod anymore. I have enough heart attacks.

You know you could just solve this by cwdt + ec + ic. Or do what I do and use a quartz and granite flask. I was able to do a minus max resist and +4 enemy projectile in dark forest earlier today and fought igna and like 5 billion blue devourers with no issue. If anything igna's 50 fireballs freezing my screen was the bigger issue than devourers.

I think there's a video somewhere, proving these things (or at least the Orchard Boss version) do mainly physical damage, even with projectiles.
so -max wasn't a factor there.

CWDT Immortal Call? will help 90% of the time.

the worms are supposed to be single enemies (or at times small packs) which surprise-pop-up and deal ridiculous damage. I'm fine with that.
I can't be fine with huge packs of seemingly unlimited size, popping up all at once, and potentially having a Bloodline Mod + a Rare with a fkn "extra damage" aura among them.

Totally agree. BTW, you forgot about "increased crit chance" aura, it is fun too.
And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.
too bad armor is totally worthless compared to other defenses then *grin* , maybe your lightning coil/cloak of defiance cheese aint that hot anymore huh :P
Would it be better if we just had a single Rare Devourer spawning small devourers instead of 10 of those huge devourers circling around you? Like Carrion Queens.

nope because a pack might not pop at the same time. 3 might pop 0,5 sec later while u start to disengage making it a dead trap.

Walking up, see devourer. Turn around; turning clockwise.
Oh look more are appearing right in front of me, funnelling me up toward the wal-RIP.
Within a split second. Only way to escape would be to just insta-alt+F4 at the sight of the first devourer or be left-handed so I could have turned 180 with anti-clockwise bias.

The GGG post here is hilarious, especially from all of the responses calling it out. XD

Hate having to hook back after every step forward and avoid every wall after that day... made for some extremely boring maps whenever I knew there were devourers.
Just make it visible with distortion in the ground already so if I decide to approach and fight some it'll be my own damn fault.

Not this again.

- Armor + End Charges + block
- Immortal Call
- High evasion with Acro
- Arctic Armor and keep running
- Keep running in general - and don't use movement skills on maps with Devourers
- Cold Snap with prolif
- If this still isn't enough, play in a party and send the tanky guy in first
