Asynchronous trading? Really? Why?

Trading is way too easy right now. What they should do, is not only scrap this "asynchronous trading" nonsense, but hell, remove the trade screen altogether! Make it so you have to drop your items in order in order to trade them, like they did in the old days! I mean, come on guys, this is a HARDCORE game after all. Only HARDCORE players should be able to get good items! Or what are you, some kind of casual?

Back when the trading window was being implemented, people seriously argued this.

The old way of trading was great - scams were virtually impossible because nobody trusted each other. Well, actually, we had almost no scamming because nobody was a dick (I never once heard of any scams in CB) - but anybody that would want to try to scam you, it'd be pretty apparent by their behavior. The trade window was necessary, but the old way of trading worked and it was certainly 'more hardcore' because it was riskier to trade, even if scamming was on the low side.

I can't fathom GGG rolling out new trade functionality without revamping the economy at the same time.

I don't know how you missed the scam report threads. Charan made one because there was such an outcry for it. Some dickish players got a real kick out of lurking trade chat all day and using whirling blades to grab your gear.

I personally saw nothing hardcore about it. Hardcore to me is game difficulty not being scared to trade because your gear could get stolen at no fault of your own.
Standard Forever
I was active in global at that time, holy shit was scamming happening all the time. I think that's what pushed the trade window to get done when it was tbh. Trading in general was going down because people were trying to scam people similar to bandit PK is now. Not really caring about the items, just the thrill.

Where is this discussion sprouting from? Did GGG make some announcement I'm not aware of?

While it was fucking hell, sure was exciting to trade.

I seriously miss CB trading. If they ever implement paid leagues, I surely hope whomever funds the CB revival league pushes to remove all trade functionality. Just for nostalgia's sake :)

But all that aside. With what we have now, I pretty much agree with GGG's direction. Require players to communicate (no automation), but remove as much other hassle as possible.
Devolving Wilds
Land
“T, Sacrifice Devolving Wilds: Search your library for a basic land card and reveal it. Then shuffle your library.”
And ingame shop-list that you can search would be all you need.

The thing about trading is... they really can't make it worse. So whatever they change, it will be great^^.

Seriously, you call me a troll and I finally look at your account and you barley play the game. To me its charan alt account confirmed, you view points and way of speaking are the same. Enough already, did you pay all that money just to try and be king of these forums? A sad life indeed

Well, that makes guild chat awkward.
We tested it extensively
Not sure what sparked this weird thread, but here's an old suggestion of mine.

Add a market system that allows players to list items, stack sizes (anywhere from 1 orb to hundreds in one listing, NOT a max of 20 or 40), and buy/sell prices. Players need to be online to trade and player-to-player interaction is required but this system allows the player to list items once without spamming /2, and to play the game while items are listed. Include a check box specifying whether a player is willing to haggle. Listings persist across logins and there should not be any microtransation that could conceivably make it easier to trade (e.g. more listings).

When another player responds to a trade listing, a notice is shown in the corner of the screen with a wait button that tells the responder you've seen the notice and will be ready to trade soon (finish killing a pack, portal to town, etc.), and then a button that actually initiates the trade. Players are not required to be in a party or to be in town to receive responses to listings, but it would be reasonable to require visiting a market area in town to list items or to respond to listings. Items should be traded from either the stash or the current character's inventory and there should be an option for items received to be placed in either the stash or the inventory.

When trading is initiated, a trade window is shown in the middle of the screen and it works similarly to the current trade window. There's a chat window under the trade window. The character model of the character being played by the lister, with equipment and microtransations, is shown on the left side of the trade window. The responder's character is shown on the right side. Each character is shown with a special passive trading pose/animation, and any pets are shown with a resting animation. There should be microtransactions for cool trade screen cosmetics, like character animations, backgrounds, trade window graphics, etc. When the trade is completed, each character bows or nods politely.

If GGG does this, players will love to trade. To be clear, I am absolutely against any sort of offline trading or AH system that does not require player-to-player interaction.

please, we need a way to trade with off-line players, restricting trades to online-online only is completely retarded in a game that is played worldwide with different players on different time zones.

So you think that population of Europe wouldn't suffice for gearing your brand new grand slam marauder?

maybe old-school trading worked well before online games got big but nowadays it's outdated.

I agree diablo 3 was so stupid due to the auction house but this is not the same thing, a crappy trading system is holding this game back

I'm all for making trade improvements, but perhaps they should take smaller steps. Efficient trading will impact this game and not all of it will be good. If they would limit the market they would limit the effects.
