And I don't feel attacked - I just feel that people are myopically commenting on this whole situation. It's as if they don't realize that I made it to lvl 98 on HC w.o this bug while playing melee since lvl 1 =(
That is actually very impressive! Gratz on that achievement. It is just a shame that you had to associate yourself with the abusers because if you had not, your achievement would have been far greater than it is now. Let's face it, if you hadn't grouped, you would not have reached level 100 before him.
Also, I'm not sure why people have been trying to defend the abuse of this bug/exploit on the account that it is the "clever use of game mechanics". It is anything but.

Regarding the abusing mechanics, we don't want players to be second guessing whether they are allowed to make a character in a specific way.
As the games high level content requires you to be using the mechanics to your advantage, it would be a bad precedent to set banning some uses of mechanics.
If there is an abusable mechanic, like the stun lock, it is on us (the game designers) to make sure it cannot be abused.
Stun is a game mechanic, same as status ailments (Freeze, Ignite, Shock - which was then subsequently nerfed due to spork).
An OP build is one that uses intended game mechanics extremely effectively and to its advantage. Being able to stun mobs was within the legitimate boundaries of this game's mechanics because it was intended. Being able to stunlock rares and uniques indefinitely although overpowered, was still a clever use of intended game mechanics.
Freeze mine although overpowered, was still working as intended before the nerf as everything it did, it did exactly as what the gem said.
Baker's achievement as a level 100 HC player, although due to playing an overpowered build, was still within the legitimate boundaries of this game's intended mechanics.
Pain attunement for instance provided More spell damage. Righteous fire as well provided More spell damage.
The moment Zealot's oath came out, it was inevitable that someone would attempt to make both work. It did, and then GGG released Shavs, knowing full well that it would likely be used in combination with the above two.
Although an overpowered combination, and arguably an unintended combination use of the above keystones/gems, it was still based on intended game mechanics.
This exploit was anything but - it was an exploit of a bug - a bug because this was not an intended game mechanic. Even the wording on the COD gem itself is clear. It is clearly meant to be used on death, and traps and mines do not die. They get triggered or detonated.
I would expect most long term players in POE to really be able to tell the difference.
I am perfectly fine, even respectful of people being clever enough to find a bug, exploit it and then reporting it immediately (which was what Kripp would have done, although he might also have had other motivations for doing so). This however was a case of finding a bug, keeping hush-hush about it, while exploiting it for personal gain.
I do not expect nor do I want any action to be taken against the exploiters, as I do feel tat GGG was also at fault here, but nor do I expect people to actually laud the "achievements" of people who abuse bugs. It reflects a sad state of this community if "cheating to win" becomes expected amongst top players and anyone who finds a better way of cheating automatically enters the ranks of a "good player". It insults the good players.
These are nebulous areas - and for this specific reason qarl himself challenged the players of poe to break the game. unfortunately for me all the moralists had forgotten this and became highly offended =) If Kripp would've found out the cod + bm thing all of his followers would've had their knee pads on and mouths open - and asking him for glimpses of his build - but he didn't and now we're in this situation =)
If kripp had found it he would have streamed it day 1 instead of turning off stream for 3 weeks. Perhaps mostly to get viewers and income, but that is the difference.

As quantum mechanics further proves idealism(a nascent idea Aristotle had), soon more people might be able to understand that those "more realistic" things you listed(and obviously prize), have the same effect on the human mind as video games =)
And if I lost 3 months of my life - I guess in the Heraclitean and Nietzschean way that I have gained something much more xOxO

Those are big words that I don't understand, but if you have the time/determination/skill to get to 100, congratulations for you.
But to use small words that i DO understand, go get laid bro :P

Congrats Franz! IMO if it's in the game you can use it, and if GGG thinks it's OP enough to nerf then they will. Even the GGG employee said that it was their mistake and that using it wasn't any form of wrongdoing.
One question for you Franz, did you have to use alt+f4 a lot? I'm not trying to tarnish your rep or anything but I hear that lots of HC/Nemesis players use it all the time and I'm wondering if it's really required. I just think it would take the fun out of HC if I had to do that all the time =/
Invalesco's comments are exactly what I hoped would be the prevailing opinion of people who commented here. Unfortunately, people just can't understand the difference between playing PoE in the spirit it was intended and exploiting an oversight by the developers to bypass content. It really doesn't matter that making use of the bug took imagination and creativity, it's still something that people who have respect for the game wouldn't have taken advantage of, either directly or by playing with people who did.
lvl 100 in 4 months?!
I feel sorry for you.
family?
girlfriend / wife?
friends?
school / work?
gym, fishing, swimming, snooker, table tennis ?
You lost 4 months of your life.
i am not gonna congratulate on this 'achievement'.
As quantum mechanics further proves idealism...
I get the whole `one's perception is one's reality' philosophy is quite popular these days, but I am uncertain as to how the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics specifically lends itself to idealism, let alone prove it. Care to elaborate on your statement? Additionally could you address these questions which do not contradict quantum mechanics but seemingly contradict idealism:
- Why should independent observers (i.e. observers at various points in space-time) agree upon results in an idealistic universe.
- And, as an extension to the previous point, why should entropy depend on perception?
Seven deadly sins, seven ways to win, seven holy paths to hell, and your trip begins.

I am not sure he actually knows what he is typing to be honest.
AFAIK the term quantum mechanics is pretty far off aristotles time line, but maybe I am wrong? Or maybe hes just spewing shit out to act clever.
