So, what are your initial thoughts on this new 'minion' skill?

Perhaps its a bit early, but I have mixed feelings.

----
To cover what I have misgivings over first:

-Aesthetically, it looks more like a homing flaming rock at the moment than anything else from what I saw in the video. Maybe if it looks more like a skull with cackling laughter maybe. (okay, if it got that it would be badass)

-As a summoner, I have little to no free slots. Minions, spectres, and skeletons takes up 3 items. Then you have auras, which can be anywhere between 1-3 items (if you go low life summoner) and curses which are generally 2 gem slots. There just isn't enough room to try this out without replacing something, or with them only being weakly linked. I don't really want to replace any of my summons, because these current summons feel more summoner like than the new skill.

-I'm unsure of how well it meshes with other summons. If your focusing on sustaining your zombies, I'm unsure you can donate aura slots to pimp these out without gimping your zombies who really need vitality + resistance aura(s) for survival.
---
On the good side I can tell a few things already:

-This will be great for leveling, you can keep moving and casting and kiting with it early on.

-Since it doesn't look like it actually takes damage, you don't need to slap life leech/minion life on it to keep it up, allowing more damage supports for it.

-It MAY give way to a different kind of summoner, perhaps a duration summoner? Skellies, animate weapon, and new skill with increased duration nodes and running hatred/wrath/anger instead of the normal defensive auras. Though, how viable that will be remains to be seen.

It's kind of like the Raven skill for the Druid in Diablo 2.
set amount of hits till they are done and what not.
not sold on it. it just is not a 'summon'. it is a homing fireball (And that is cool!)

it is based on sea witch baby-spawn found in caverns. im cool with that too

what im not so sure about is that: mobs in poe have stop to attack. if enemy is faster than X it means youll never land a hit, even if you are faster than him (think Piety melee form - she is faster than you, yet when she catches up and stops to swing you run away)

this type of movement skill surely needs an engine when you can attack AND move at the same time - otherwise for most part it will be for nothing

just a note: what 'minion XXX' gem provides bigger dps gain? answer: minion speed!
My thoughts are that summoners are the last build that needs more options. Seems odd to me that they're getting more options when people already have to play musical skills/gems just to get set up to play.
Spoiler
dominating blow duration based summoner FTW?
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

I am praying that it is because the long awaited snapshot fix will be implemented :).

I may be thinking wrong with this, but I think this skill is supposed to replace your filler skill. I use arc/culling/item rarity, so maybe this will replace my arc? Arc is weak anyway since summoners don't pick up +spell dmg nodes and I'm guessing this will gain damage from all of the minion damage nodes we pick up. If that is the case, this will possibly be a better filler than any other spell.
my first thought about that new skill was : "Can i support it with GMP ?" cuz that would be fun if u have like 5 homing projectiles and can maybe spam it ^^

Can you support "Raise zombie" with GMP?

It's not a projectile, it's a minion...
I just hope it works on CoC

Side rant:
Spoiler
Whats the point of having support gems with rules on them if the developers are just going to ignore the rules and pick and choose which skills work with it anyways??

flameblast i'm looking at you >.>

Its like a developer saying that increased melee physical damage will now work with split arrow "just because". If CoC says it works with spells, it should work with any spell or just remove it from the game.
