Great Game but FOV is too narrow.
Came to the forums to see if this is something of an issue for other folks. Appears to be a point of contention to a degree.
Just going to leave this here. The FOV or zoom level is too close. It's playable, but it is really really annoying. It doesn't need to be changed drastically but another notch out would do wonders. The game world feels very tiny and cramped. Feels like playing in 800x600 resolution kind of. I know is these types of games it always feels like you wish you had a little more zoom out, but i think this in this case it really could use it. Excellent job on the game though so far. That is all. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

KillerKG:
It's to prevent players from shooting enemies that are just off screen, but haven't had their AI activated yet Was a huge exploit on D2 where you would just spam Cone style attacks 1 screen over In PvP it was even more ridiculous The people that could see farther using cheats would just kill you before you ever saw them on screen From a personal standpoint I like it because it means that the dev's can put more power on ranged attackers when they would otherwise need to gimp them severely for their huge advantage |

" From the Common Suggestions and Feedback (with Dev Responses) thread: 11. The game needs to be zoomed out more. At the moment, zooming out more would damage the quality of the textures and shadows. While the game is zoomed in a bit more than some of its competitors, it is more than playable. Zooming out more, however, would mean that ranged players could not attack as far as they can see. The only people for whom this is a serious problem right seems to be people with old monitors (CRT) and bad resolution. http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/32342 |

Bizarre. I play with a buddy, and regularly kill enemies off screen as a ranger (about 1 screen away) for both of us. We just find the loot piles.

I figured, and knew as i have been reading up on it now that there were already Dev responses. However it still feels cramped.
I was comparing some 10 year old Diablo 2 screenshots i have, and while yes there is more screen space horizontal in POE (due to wide screen res of today) it still fells more cramped. 800x600 in D2 and compared to a screen cap that someone posted in the other big thread (that i am re posting here cause i can't find that thread again), @ 1920x1080 the D2 screen while being 4.3 still looks a bit less cramped...(to me). ![]() ![]() Anyway.. |

yeah, i'd have to agree, d2 to this, d2 feels like its a tick further "scrolled out" than PoE's perspective.
i completely understand the logic of limiting ranged units, however. <3 GGG.

" The dev's stance on this issue is going to lose them a lot of players, I'm afraid. I'm loving most things about this game, but my friends and I agree that the FOV/zoom is a big issue. I'm dealing with it right now, but the more I play, the more annoying it's getting. I'm not sure if it's the angle, the zoom level, or a mixture of the two, but at times it is disorienting/gives me a headache after playing for a while. This is one of the few things about the game that may drive me away, long term. As for the off-screen thing, I'm not sure I buy that in this case. I'm already getting annoyed at enemies being able to shoot me from off-screen, esp those stupid poison spitters in A2 and chain lightning mages that can blast me from way out of my view range...and I play @ 1920x1200 resolution. |

Just play for one week and you will get used to zoom. I have simislar feelings at the beggining of my advenrture with PoE too. But NOW i feel that other games are sommend out too much and are tto seasy becasue this (more time to react when you see mobs).
D3 zoom ot Titan Wust on max zoom feels like a cheat after meaty session of PoE. Zoom is OK. If you cant accept that its your problem. Not all games must be the same. |

" Not everyone's eyes are the same. There have been a lot of threads in various places about this issue, where the FOV/zoom actually causes headaches/dizziness for some people. Sure, it's our "problem", but it's one that is going to cause a loss of players and shouldn't be hard to fix. Last edited by Hehaw#1427 on Jan 26, 2013, 12:20:09 AM

I agree with OP. If we could zoom out a TINY bit more that would take away my only complaint about the game :)
