How can anyone play melee?

Melee are the best in damage and in survivability now. You can easily get a very nice dps output, and once you gather some good wealth and buy yourself a BoR/Aegis, you'll only die to you being drunk or falling asleep on your keyboard.

Make a passive skill build that is heavily invested in defense, then trade to over gear content and make up for the relative lack of DPS passives in your build. Then face tank everything because it's the only option that works all the time.

I did this for my second character after having failed on my first. I used the currency to trade for gear for my current main, who is strong enough to wear decent MF gear and still farm Piety/Dominus and maps. Just used the currency I got form him to make a 100% MF character.

Desync is a part of the game Consider it a game mechanic.

Things you will NEVER do playing melee:
Avoiding enemies by running around
Avoiding projectiles by running around
Running to take cover behind obstacles
Using mobility skills to get out of bad situations
Using mobility skills to get in good positions
Using mobility skills multiple times (once is bad enough)
Relying on self-controlled defensive skills (everything should be on CwS and CwDT)
Picking your targets personally (every attack should be either shift click or auto aim)

^ Complete bullshit.

I run around all the time, hide behind things to break LoS, use whirling blades to reposition, I don't have any auto-casting gems linked, I NEVER shift-click and I am 100% self-found.

Oh, and before some derp-hat claims you also need either Iron Reflexes or a bazillion armor, I have precisely 1% armor mitigation and about 3.5k hp.

Level 71 melee in Nemesis. Seems to me like most people need to either:

1). Get a better internet provider/computer.
2). Learn to play without blaming their suckage on "desync".

You gotta be a glutton for punishment if you know abotu desync and still decide to go for a cyclone build or another build where the main skill is known to cause desync a lot.

Then crying a river on everythread about it is just icing on the cake.

It is not like there are no other melee builds, but what would the world be if we didnt have people who dont repeatedly poke themselves in the eye and then cry that it hurts..repeatedly.
It's not a problem with desync, it's a problem with the way you're playing. Many people play melee in HC, don't die, and also don't feel the need to play conservatively. You almost certainly need more life than you have.
@UnfairMonopoly
Miszou makes a good point too - but it will be drowned in the river of tears! :-P

I saw a magic pack of zombies called "Drowned of Anger" and felt quite sad for them lol - and for whatever it meant :-P

Having more life is just another build limitation imposed by lack of hardware/capital, aka desync.
