How can anyone play melee?

Are you high? I wouldn't have any, because I wouldn't be playing a scrubshit sc build with 1500 hp. You don't understand my argument at all. You said the only reason you need high hp was to mitigate desync. I told you that you need high hp to mitigate legitimate game mechanics. You refuted nothing, and instead told me 1500 hp was fine for act 3 merciless. Then when I said it wasn't and that even double still wasn't, which someone else agreed with, you pretend we were making the same point. You still think the only reason to have more than 6k hp as melee is because of desync. It's not, you just haven't reached the stage of the game where you'll get wrecked with anything less, desync or not.

You got completely fucking dunked on, gg.

You used legitimate game mechanics from content I'm not even on yet. I don't give two shits about mitigating map mechanics I'm not yet encountering on that character. Keep failing at reading comprehension though, and feel free to state whatever dumb shit you feel like next, because I'm not going to waste my time responding to you again, since you're either stupid or trolling.

What are you, 14?

I'm using your 1500 hp as an EXAMPLE of LOW HP, a concept that translates to any content in the game. How are you possibly not comprehending that I'm not telling you that 1500 hp won't work for maps. I know it won't, even you know it won't. My argument is that LOW HP, whether that's 1500 hp in act merciless, or 4k hp in 73+ maps, will not work in this game, not just because you'll die to desync, but because you'll die to all sorts of other things that were put into the game so that you cannot play a build with LOW HP without dying.

LEARN TO READ. This exact message was in the first post I made and every post after it, but you are far too dense to pick up on it. Not stupid, or trolling, just tired of dealing with people who don't have brains and who read words without regard to their context. I may have mentioned your 1500 hp as too low, but it had nothing to do with any point I actually came here to make about high hp being necessary, regardless of desync.

@UnfairMonopoly
83, nemesis, melee. works fine.

Some playstyles suits what you are able to pull out in a game and than you have range that just requires a lot less and fits console gamers.

ps: Hold Position button is your friend, as a range too btw...
Why you should try Harcore http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/209310/page/1

Groundslam Marauder doesn't desync despite having to move around because GS doesn't hit shit at point blank. Maybe it only applies to fast moving builds (flicker) idk.

Things you will NEVER do playing melee:
Avoiding enemies by running around
Avoiding projectiles by running around
Running to take cover behind obstacles
Using mobility skills to get out of bad situations
Using mobility skills to get in good positions
Using mobility skills multiple times (once is bad enough)
Relying on self-controlled defensive skills (everything should be on CwS and CwDT)
Picking your targets personally (every attack should be either shift click or auto aim)

^ Complete bullshit.

I run around all the time, hide behind things to break LoS, use whirling blades to reposition, I don't have any auto-casting gems linked, I NEVER shift-click and I am 100% self-found.

Oh, and before some derp-hat claims you also need either Iron Reflexes or a bazillion armor, I have precisely 1% armor mitigation and about 3.5k hp.

Level 71 melee in Nemesis. Seems to me like most people need to either:

1). Get a better internet provider/computer.
2). Learn to play without blaming their suckage on "desync".

Agree with symban except... I would say: Things you probably won't be able to do playing melee.

As for Miszou, I can provide you with some nice videos of couple of desyncs in under a half a minute.

Why are you people blindly defending desync? It's recorded millions of times.

Well, you can't say never.
I have a melee frenzy build that can literally stay in the mid of a pack for hours. So desync is not an issue at all for me. I can say i built around it or, more precisely, as a Nemesis character i HAD to build around it. Also this specific item helps a load for my build:

12,5% life regene always up is too damn awesome

This said, All you need to prevent desync deaths up to 72 maps is:

5k hp
10k armor
some block
3% life regene
Knowledge about desync and how to avoid it, there is a thread that shows all "tricks" to prevent desync

He did.

Well, he typed it.

I guess he might have said it, too.

Some people do that sort of thing, you know.

Maybe voice recognition software is involved.

Probably not, that wouldn't have dropped the apostrophe in "don't."

It's just a mystery, I guess.

Ah, desync...

It is so unbelievably bad.

I play a 2h melee ranger and yesterday I did my first lvl 76 Crematorium Map.

It was a disaster.

I could literally stay in place spamming my main attack and survive but in that map there were those pesky mobs that put Lightning Thorns on their allies, so I had to play smart and separate them.

Surely "playing smart" is not an option when the map itself is made up of small rooms and narrow corridors: whenever I finally lured a couple of enemies in a separate room I quicly discover that they are only ghosts, on the server they didn't follow me.

But that's the good part, the bad one is when I've run back but the server decides I'm actually still in the other room being punched to death.

And the jockingly worst one is when I'm going full DPS on a separated mob and explode on Thorn damage even if there is noone who can put thorns on them... because apparently enemies can cast Lightning Thorns from the other side of the map without direct sightline...

I think as soon as RoS comes out I'm done with this game.
I supported it with 3 times the amount of money I paid for Diablo but I'm really starting to despise the foundation rules of the game itself.
Stop playing HC and you won't worry about desync or other technical issues in the game.
