How can anyone play melee?
See, the thing y'all doing wrong, is trying to move while mobs are on the screen. This is not that type of game.
You know, that whole reason desync is so bad in the first place, so you can manually dodge attacks, just causes desync. xD Cool story GGG. Many lewt.
Much desync. Such rewarding. Wow. According to forum mods "sandwich" is considered an offensive word. Who knew? |

Magic formula is quite easy, people will tell you they never desynch with their melee and they are telling the trust, but they forget to mention how bland a build you need to make for that.
Things you will NEVER do playing melee: Avoiding enemies by running around Avoiding projectiles by running around Running to take cover behind obstacles Using mobility skills to get out of bad situations Using mobility skills to get in good positions Using mobility skills multiple times (once is bad enough) Relying on self-controlled defensive skills (everything should be on CwS and CwDT) Picking your targets personally (every attack should be either shift click or auto aim) Then if you have high life-leech & high block you will do just fine. But at that point your char will be very boring to play and wont require any player skills at all. I find it funny when the excuse for having desynch is the game mechanics that allow you to do stuff (supposedly) other games cant. But doing any of those stuff will desynch you, so you have to avoid doing them. Fail logic in my opinion. |

" ^ Complete bullshit. I run around all the time, hide behind things to break LoS, use whirling blades to reposition, I don't have any auto-casting gems linked, I NEVER shift-click and I am 100% self-found. Oh, and before some derp-hat claims you also need either Iron Reflexes or a bazillion armor, I have precisely 1% armor mitigation and about 3.5k hp. Level 71 melee in Nemesis. Seems to me like most people need to either: 1). Get a better internet provider/computer. 2). Learn to play without blaming their suckage on "desync". Im in the exact opposite opinion, why do people play casters, melee you buy a few 1chaos uniques and you rush through leveling oneshotting everything to endgame then buy a great weapon and max your resist and continue to oneshot everything in maps, casters leveling is throwing curses and kiting and nearly dying and taking twice the amount of time to kill stuff, and even with 20/20 gems at endgame their damage and tankiness never comes close to a physical melee character. So melee you leap slam in and oneshot the pack with a flicker/double/heavy/infernal blow, while a caster puts up two curses drops a totem then proceeds to channel or chain nukes chipping away at mobs, its night and day difference in ease of playstyle and clear speed. Even a discharger has to setup the damage with curses and enduring while melee just run up and swing once and the screen explodes.

" You probably desync all the time, and just don't know how to spot it. Also, ISP quality can be limited depending on where you live (and the local infrastructure), so you can shove that suggestion somewhere uncomfortable. Many lewt.

" I do this *all the time* and I don't get in trouble. You just can't push your way through mobs behind you - the client may let you do it, but the server won't. Kill the mobs behind you, THEN run back outside the door. If you let things close you off, you're stuck whether the client shows it or not. I've died to desync one time over about 650 character levels, and that was on normal Brutus. That's the only mob/location in the game that I think anyone could have a 100% legit beef about regarding desync, and I've killed him (and Kole) dozens of times with only one death. Desync is a part of the game, and you either learn how to deal with it or it frustrates you endlessly. Consider it a game mechanic. |

" If that's the case, then desync can't be all that bad, considering I'm at level 71 in Nemesis without noticing it... [Hardcore] Soldiers of the Wasteland - sotwguild.com

Yes, desync is a feature, just like alt-f4.
