Godssend, you're playing an early beta build. They don't even have all the base content in the game yet. Of course they're going to have to nerf things. It's a beta.
I'm sure they're aware how much players hate nerfs. That's game dev 101. That's (partly) why there's a beta in the first place, because they want the game to be well tuned out of the gates, when the game launches.
If you're going to complain about nerfs in a beta patch then maybe you should just wait until the game goes into open beta in ~Jan. There are going to be more major nerfs coming, for sure. There's no avoiding them. That's what they mean when they say they want beta testers to test balance.
if you check through the forums older posts you can see that i posted about this exact same subject long before they ever announced any sort of nerf. Im not mad i got nerfed... (I didn't).
Wait until open beta so i can sit back and wait for all of the useless feedback to allow the game to be ruined (NOT SAYING THE GAME IS GOING TO BE RUINED).
Tons of MMO come out and fail. Why? Because they take it the completely wrong direction.
People want to feel powerful (all of the original complaints weren't really about shock's damage, they were about how weak other chars are comparatively. These people think they're powerful, see a nova sorc and say "WOW, i wanna do that but can't" (I did...) When they don;t see any light at the end of the tunnel for their chars to do the same thing the whole 3 year old "It's not fair" thing starts.
Again I posted about this EXACT SAME SUBJECT long before the patch or any word of it.
Awesome gear and high level with good build should be OVERPOWERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean this completely seriously, and I don't mean to be a jerk when I say this.
It sounds to me like Path of Exile may not be the game for you, then. If you want to be powerful, and have only challenges with boss fights, then I think you'll probably find Diablo 3 right up your alley.
I feel like the way Blizzard has gone in the past 5 years, they'll make a game that will give you that awesome powerful feeling you want.
GGG has a different vision for PoE, as far as I can tell. They want their game to be challenging (but fair), and they're pretty focused on this.
Blizzard, on the other hand, wants their game to have mass appeal, and that's their bottom line. They want to sell 10 million copies, and that means keeping casuals happy.
I don't mean that in a bad way. There's nothing wrong with casual gamers. But if you want PoE to be easy, then I don't think you're going to get GGG on board. And I'm glad for it.

Well and then there are those that are playing the strongest build right now, have a high level character with said shock nova build.
They like the game. They like to feel strong and they like to fram. Still they do not want to push an "I WIN" button.
Now i do not see the problem when those people give feedback and write their opinion as you do.

A "casual gamer" isn't going to play long enough to get all the best gear in the game to become overpowered.
Are you honestly telling me that you want to be level 100 in some ridiculous gear and have your character be "Balanced"
You do realize than, at level 100, in average gear, your character sucks.....

My shock nova witch still feels strong and i still clear whole screen of enemys in a few seconds.
I do not know what you are complaining about.
yes 70lvl nova sorc with 20 lvl skill gems should feel strong vs 58 lvl mobs and thats how it should be, marauder cant kill shit in chaos even with perf gear and 10+ lvls while nova can doesnt mean nova is OP, more like marauder needs buffs(whole melee is a joke atm).
So?
I've no problems with buffing melees however Godssend hinted that they changed shock nova to the bad and as you do know that's wrong.
Shock nova is still fine.
yes lvl 70 witch with 20lvl skill gems is "fine" only because its the only char whos damage scales with levels not items, pretty sure if marauder had acces to 70+lvl items he would be fine in 58 lvl chaos too

If you are high level in good gear and feel OP in lvl 58 dungeons, you dont nerf the damage to make level 58 dungeons equivelent to it...... You add more content to contend with the higher level damage....
Leaving Chaos 54-57 as is and making 58 chaos ridiculously hard or increasing chaos levels would solve this w/o nerfing the damage. Or... Dare I say... A level cap...

Sorry, I don't mean casual the way that you mean it.
When the WoW devs change level 80 / 85 content to be easier for the masses, those are changes for casual players. It takes many many hours to get to the level cap in WoW (especially if you're a casual player who doesn't read forums).
The way I meant casual was more in terms of player knowledge/skill. Hardcore raiders in WoW mostly play less than 12 hours/week, and when new content comes out, they'll put in 20 hours/week for a few weeks until they down it. Those players are the hardest-core.
Many many teenagers also play WoW. They don't read forums. They don't understand class mechanics. They don't understand optimal gearing strategy. They don't know how to do a proper talent build. BUT, they play 40+ hours/week. Those players are casual, not hardcore.
Casual vs. hardcore has very little to do with playtime (although there is a positive correlation between playtime and "hardcore-ness").
There are going to be a lot of casual level 60 players in D3 because that's the demographic that Blizzard caters to.

Lol'd hard when I looked at the thread title, assumed the OP was a light witch and then it was confirmed upon entering.
Cry everyone a river, you did and still do more damage than anyone. You should be the last person complaining.

Devs dropped ball on this "balance".
only what they have to do was fix glitch.
fire got only 1 spell : worthless right now
lightning got 2 spell: spark aimless skill (not good) and S.Nova that nerfed to oblivion.
only what we got now is cold skills.
i hope devs test some lv30/40/50 char with normal gears + s.nova. after lv55+ you dont have problem coz mobs are 58 and your skill get every stronger. but same lv map are imba right now.

i completely understand the need for difficult content and completely agree but there isn't any difficult content currently in the game.
I don't think every char should be able to walk through every zone w/o taking damage. If that character is lvl 70, in a level 58 dungeon, and wearing level 60 gear, why shouldn;t they?
The balances should have been based on where a character is around the level of the content, not high end.
I am not saying they broke the game... i would have just preferred to see all of the other classes see significant boosts to meet what a Sorc could do at higher levels.

Basically... just... LOLOLOLOL You = Idiot.
ITS BETA...ITS... well... BETA!
You're complaining because they nerfed 30% off the top damage of shock nova? I got one of the new curses and lowered that to 10% its barely noticeable.
You cant complain about nerfing because you picked the easiest current class to play and use your 'skills' to spam your way through the game, its a farming character not a skill character and its freaking BEEETTTA!!!
