Yup its working. If I had a gun and shot someones kid, and they then complained about it, would you be so sarcastic as to say, "Well, its working as intended".

These scenarios are exactly the same.

Personally, I feel that the murdering children analogy was underselling the gravity of the situation.

guess its the internet working as intended

It is an exaggerated example, that serves much of the same purpose to explain the situation at hand.

A better analogy is you left your car unlocked in a bad neighborhood and you're complaining it got stolen. Yes it sucks but there are always pricks that will do it. The only thing you can do it NOT map when you advertise with a public party. The end.

2 problems with that:

1. Real life is not a game.

2. It is illegal to steal a car even if it is unlocked.

I've stated my arguments about the NOTICEBOARD in the thread of the invading project maker, check it out before trying to be a smartass.

And thus it is ethical for that person to steal your car then? That is the crux of this.

In a practical sense, what you're saying makes sense. It's the reason we lock our cars after all. But is the person who leaves their car open truly to blame? Or is the person who does something that we all intuitively know is wrong (at least in some sense, we may disagree on what is "wrong" in a game) to blame?

I agree with point #2 but point #1 makes no sense. Games are a part of real life. They can have consequences just like stealing a car.

Example: If you make a death threat in a game you can be arrested.

The person that replied to you said the same thing you did, in less words.
