Please stop using Reddit, GGG

[Removed by Admin]

The only difference is that in Reddit, if you're not part of the circlejerk, you get downvoted. Here you can at least have an opinion no matter whether people disagree with it or not.

Regardless, they could at least keep a blog or something instead of posting about the game on unrelated websites that most players don't even read. What's even the point of an official forum if the developers themselves barely even use it? So far most of the GGG posts I see here are just the orange-named bots who post every once in a while to tell people to calm down. That's it. Oh and Andrew on the audio subforum, that guy's great, he actually communicates with people who have problems and suggestions, how cool is that? I mean just go check that subforum, the guy posts and talks with almost everyone who posts there, feels like a completely different website. The people at GGG should take some notes.

Because the PoE subreddit is a shortsighted circlejerk that automatically downvotes valid criticism or suggestions that aren't QoL suggestions.

Some of PoE's best changes such as monster health bars, 250% 4L buff and more loot allocation options would never have made it through the reddit hivemind

I realize browsing the upvote culled reddit threads are more positive and fun, but in the end responding to criticism is the only way to keep evolving and improving PoE.
Joking right?! Evidently you have absolutely no idea whatsoever how many posts GGG staff delete outright. Not including the hundreds they bury.

You can only have certain opinions, otherwise they are "feedback"

+1 less reddit, devs would never comment in a thread like this : http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/517989/page/1
More unique threads, all of them made by players and none are sticked:

Patch 11.0 [unique thread]
Release [unique thread]
Patch 11.1 [unique thread]
Desync (general) [unique thread]
Desync bad experiences [unique thread]
RNG [unique thread]
pants [unique thread]
Alpha Neon testing [unique thread]
Worst rips [unique thread]
Xmas in poe [unique thread]
Discussion about 4-Months leagues [unique thread]
..
Economy and trading[unique thread]
Economy and trading is bad [unique thread]
..
Athene streaming poe [unique thread]
Kripp streaming poe [unique thread]
New streamers [unique thread]
..
Quick noob questions here [unique thread]
advanced questions [unique thread]
..

Whenever a new a thread pops up and there is a unique thread talking about it, a mod locks it and link the unique thread.
80% of threads would be [unique threads] 20 other % are for new threads, only time will judge their ability to become new [unique threads].

The Problem about reddit is , that all the sensitive carebears go there and it´s a place where if you have something negative to say be it the truth or harsh you WILL be downvoted and your comment will NOT be shown.

it´s a naziforum for newage hivemind.
that´s how it all started back then.

Here if you´ve anything negative to say you will be harrassed by some supporterpack fanboys and told to quit the game because GGG does nothing wrong.
Not all of them , but most.

They could stop using both their homepage and reddit , then just work on the game instead of shitting out useless microstransactions and new shiny portal effects or some kind of rubbish on your back.

It seems like the cashcow is intact as intact as it needs to be , thus further improvement is not 1#priority.

But milking dumb rich people is , who care about looks and pretend to "donate".
See if you´d truly donate towards the game , you wouldn´t need some kind of rainbow under your ass to shine.

People who donate to charity don´t ask the hobos for something in return.
They are filled with joy , that they could help even if it was just a little.

You people on the other hand are straight customers- deal with it.

What are you talking about? Reddit was most behind loot allocation options and health bars.

You seem to be generalizing and having a really wrong idea about PoE's subreddit.

Somewhat true. You can thank me for monster health bars (long story but essentially true) and I don't use the PoE subreddit. I've looked at it a few times but I'm not comfortable there.

Probably the lack of garish 'fuck you all, I'm a rich prick, suck it peons!' titles. Hm.

I won't, because you missed the most important part about the whole thing: WHERE'S THE PLAYER HEALTHBAR ON SCREEN?

Thanks, I was just kidding about the not thanking part. I like the change, but I would like a player health bar in the middle of the screen much much much much much more. I've passed it on to some people at GGG but my ability to get anything done is 0, I can't even get a reply to a mechanics question from Mark in a thread I had open for weeks AND a PM.

Make it happen, Charan, I believe in you!

A lot of the people I see saying reddit is 'carebear central' or that 'the truth will get downvoted' tend to be those who may be right or telling the truth but show absolutely no ability to convey it without coming across as a bit of a douchebag.

As a very, very long-time veteran of internet interaction, I'm well aware of the excuse a lot of said douchebags use when telling the truth but in a callous, vitriolic way: 'I don't pull any punches' or some variant thereof.

On the other hand, the few times I have used reddit (usually discussion of my items), I've seen lots of excellent debate and disagreements, merely carried out in a method that conveys an awareness that 'pulling no punches' (i.e. being a callous douchebag in tone or wording) will get a person downvoted and thus ignored.

Tone matters, people. Whether you want to believe it or not, I'm one of the harsher critics of GGG -- I just couch it in a tone that makes it clear that I feel this way because I care. Because there's a world of difference between telling someone they suck and then laughing, and telling someone they can probably do better and then giving suggestions how.

So I don't view reddit as some sort of circlejerk or forced-happiness centre. It's just you HAVE to behave there or you get left out of the conversation. Behave doesn't mean agreeing with everyone or kissing people's arses. It just means expressing your opinion without being an unsympathetic knob about it.

I find this appealing and would very much like it if this forum had a similar system.

Actually I have to say that the problems with reddit are the exact same problems as I experienced on the LoL forums

The upvote/downvote system encourages hivemind/groupthink/whiteknight behavior which shadows potential and good discussion in regards to criticism. Both systems have issues where good threads and up getting killed because someone mentions an inconvenient truth

It often had little to do with how the message was conveyed, and more to do with how inconvenient the criticism is

In my opinion, developers shouldn't post on reddit at all, and if it is a post, it should be just be a link to an actual forum post. The amount of info that devs give to reddit about the game are disgusting, especially when it should be on the forums

OP you've been here long enough to know we have already had this same thread back in closed beta. GGG stated they understood our outcry of info being passed out and discussed first on 3rd party websites then on PoE official forums and promised to communicate first/more often on these forums.

It's a shame that promise lasted only about a month.

Don't tell them what to do in their free time.

When you own/run a company you no longer have any "free time" to call your own. Also when you own/run a company you lose the right to be able to carelessly say/type anything you want to, because what ever you say will be held to a higher standard/gospel by the masses.
