Marylene's Fallacy Lapis Amulet

The highest crit i managed to come up with using a reasonable witch tree and this amulet was about 65% with Bino's. If Goddess Scorned was a dagger that could have been 71%. That's pretty high but it requires a good bit of investment.

I just bought this thing, because I thought it would be nice to have a higher crit multiplier with lesser crit chance in my crit burning shadow build.

So I tried it out and NO WAY!!! this is one of the worst things I ever weared.
This Unique has only downsides. The higher multiplier mod can never compede to the penaltys of this item.

They should really fix this item.
Why not 60% less crit chance of the base value of the skill or weapon? That would be fair.

its.. really bad to be honest, pretty much unusable since even if you stack all the crit chance you can you still wont have much and youll just be better off using a normal crit multi amulet, and of course its unusable in hardcore for sure since youll just do no damage for like 10 hits and then get 1 shot to reflect


Ive heard people talk about it only being good with proliferate and puncture builds, but to be honest id rather just use a normal crit multi amulet with some defensive stats and proc the burn/puncture more often

I heared they are planning a spell that consumes charges to crit, which would work well in conjunction to Marylenes because it would bypass its 60less downside.

Yeah I tried it 6l with Elemental Proliferation in Catacombs. My char is lvl85 and he nearly died at the second Mob, because he did not get a crit for around 10 hits. Then I got the Crit, everything was oneshotted but I had used all my flasks until then.

With the highest crit weapon in the game with a perfect crit roll, (prophecy wand at 12.27% crit chance), it's like trying to make a crit build with a 4.9% weapon.

You need an additional 100% crit multi and 1000% crit chance to just reach 100% damage effectiveness.... Who designed this unique?

Regardless of the designer GGG still does a lot of the legwork with the concept and it has to pass through their approval at multiple stages: at least 50% GGG blame.

In terms of paper DpS, this item can never work. And you can be 100% sure it wasn't designed to be.

I see some uses in niche builds like iE Puncture (only need one BIG hit, then all will bleed to death), when your Paper DpS doesn't matter at all.

It's a very weird item with very limited use, but that doesn't make it "bad".

There are builds that use marylene and if I had a gift from above I would make a mf char using it as well. They are like facebreakers or the low life mf boots. Really bad if you do not have the right build but amazing in the right circumstances.
