I can't understand what's going on lads. I farm maps for currency I can exchange to exalteds to buy some rare uniques but the prices are raising thrice as fast as my wealth. It's been like this for several weeks.

Don't tell me exalteds are more common now because I haven't looted even 1 ever. It's very discouraging to play this game, knowing despite all my time and efforts spent I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO GET MY NERFED KAOM'S at the crazy rate prices are going up.

Will this madness ever stop?

Don't cry about standard. Standard is the trash bin everything that happens in the trash bin is trash. And you shouldn't care about trash unless you're an environmentalist or a hobo.

You apparently sure have RIPed a lot into standard.

Talk about wasting your time.....

You're doing it wrong then dude. Seriously just farm maps and Dom runs and make the chaos orb recipe. I just bought these

for 55 exalts combined that I farmed myself. Yes, I did kind of win the RNG lottery by finding a 20/58 void battery that I sold for 22 ex, but that still leaves 23 ex of my own currency that I found solely from Dom runs and maps by making the chaos orb recipe and farming alts.

It can be done dude.

Right.. so half of what you spent you obtained by getting a lucky drop and selling for a large amount.

And how long would it have taken you to "find" the other 22ex you happened to get by selling the void battery hm? a week? two weeks? a month? two months?

I have yet to see an exalt drop out of countless hours played, and don't have the luck or time to farm for 80 hours a week..

so you tell me, how long would it take me to get those two items you posted for 50+ex.. a year? maybe more? assuming I don't get really good drops or anything great for sell..?

People like you spread a lot of misbelief making people who read these forums think that its possible.. well of course its possible, but its nowhere near plausible for 90% of players.. if not more.

It took about a month of farming about 1.5 hours a day. I'm busy too man I'm in my 4th year of university in biomedical science, writing my honours thesis, medical school applicant, lead the campus first aid club, work two jobs, and maintain a competitive GPA for med school. Don't talk to me about busy!

Ok cool, so you're busy.. makes your post seem all the more unrealistic.. great when a player can come up and get some great drops and potentially trade them for a bunch of currency, but this simply doesn't happen often enough to make it seem like it can be an expectation for most players.

The best drop I've got after 10+ characters since OB is a tabula rasa which netted me 2ex, which now seems a paltry amount considering there is gear selling for 50-100.. I just don't appreciate people blowing smoke when it comes to their experience since their experience does not near reflect the general pop playing this game. Most players in this game are poor and will remain poor with flashes of wealth.. most players will take that wealth to improve their character, and the rest play path of trading more than the game itself.

its easy to solve the currency problem.. ppl just need to make a geral agreement of the prices.

if something is worth 10ex then it STAYS 10ex not 20 or 30ex because more ppl want it, or because it no longer drops.

that is the problem, ppl keep overpricing stuff and other ppl keep paying for overpriced stuff.

just keep the prices the same and all will be good, less stress more playing.

That would not be an economy.
In an economy there will always be an ebb and flow price wise.

exactly my point. we dont need an economy, economy just brings problems and stress.
we should just "price" something and thats it. no need to randomly increase prices because someone feels like it.

No thanks. I'm not interested in a game where you grind for hours just to buy the next item on the rung from some vendor. I'll play WoW or something else if I need that fix.

Almost none of the posts suggested any possible solution, as having MONSTROUS inflation was something usual in any permanent type of gameplay. But there are many stable econimies (look at some mmo's) where prices do not rise endlessly. Why PoE can't have stable economy or what GGG can do to prevent inflation?

Because you need item sinks for that. The main reason to play HC over SC leagues is because the "economy", don't get fooled.

Best (alive) MMO economy is Eve-Online, and that's because items leave the economy all the time and you have a live production system to feed the machine. Bind to account/character is a cheap mechanic for carebear MMO's to try handle the economy in non-organic ways.

Best PoE economy league would be: Standard cut-throat league. More than 75% of the items are destroyed on kill (not gems/flasks), rest drop (looting allowed ofc). Buffed (a lot) drop rates of orbs & items OR add/change mod roll bias, improved crafting system (real crafting).

Something along these lines, carefully balanced, would have an awesome stable economy in a permanent league. And that's because MMO with good economies work (full-loot open pvp MMO's).

i wasnt talking about buying them from vendors, they would still need to be farmed and sold from others players. but we the comunity would set prices for items of X category.

for ex: old kaoms/soul taker/shaves etc etc 40ex. they should still be worth 40ex even if they go longer drop, and the nerfed ones show be around 20-30ex.

those retarded prices of 100ex are jokes. and the biggest problem is that some ppl that have rotting currency will buy them for that price, making them worth that. instead of the old price. that is what screws our economy.

Um... If they are selling for a price, then they are worth that price. We as a community do set the prices. The beautiful thing is that they are not constant. There's no way to make things a constant price in an economy unless you regulate it through NPCs. Even an auction house will have variances.

There's really nothing wrong with the economy. It stabilized beautifully after the Anarchy infusion. Took a few weeks but it's looking really good. The only real complaint that I have is that there are too many people in the trade channels so it's very hard to get your goods viewed by others.
I think that with the ongoing prices, most casual people won't be able to afford a top tier item, unless they win the lottery and drop a Shavronne/Kaom to sell. While it can be demoralizing, it should be noted that you can solo all the game content, including merciless Dominus, up to low level maps, without any of the most powerful uniques. They're for the most part luxury items, meant for people who can afford to farm efficiently for 4-5h per day. They are very powerful, since they drastically improve quality of life/enable some borderline OP combos, but as a casual player myself, I don't even consider them while I plan for my build, since I know for a fact that I won't ever get them unless I get a lucky drop.

It may be hard to do high level maps (75+), but usually casuals won't have a map pool of lv75+ maps (well, I don't), since those require some serious time investment in the form of currency and map group. By the time one gets to do those maps, he'll probably be already wealthy enough to buy end game items (maybe not 100ex ones...).

As for myself, I can probably make around 35-40 alterations per hour of farming dominus more or less, and I don't have any high end item (most notable ones are probably a 250 dps dagger and a 5L chest). I run with 95/45 IIR/IIQ (with goldwyrm and IIR support gem), and just vendor all the trash rares I get. The chaos recipe and sellable uniques are a bonus, but I get them rarely (low drop rates of rings/amulets and mostly junk uniques). With exalts going for 280 alts, that's 1 ex every 7 hours of farming more or less, 1 ex per week by playing 1 hour per day. As stated previously, you will NEVER get an item going for 100ex with this farming rate, but it can net you an end game item going for 10/20 ex in 2/4 months (not considering some actually sellable drops), which is not that bad in my opinion, considering that a decent 6L chest goes for 30-40 ex lately.

So basically I am farming but not for gear. You see there is an item that increases orb drops. Can't tell you which one. Anyways I'm literally standing there most of the time chatting away, flipping and when I need orbs takes about 30 minutes to stack up again. It's a continuos process that very robotic. It's a little tiresome but there's something I enjoy, I make new friends in the process.

my bet: the orb inflation come from this
