Don't feed the trolls
The most trolling I've seen in game (and also done myself) is purposely give outrageously wrong information to new people.
Such as: "what do you do with the eternal flame?" "If you stand by the campfire in town with it, the fire will turn blue eventually, then drop a chaos and a dead roah." Or something along the lines of that. "Minions of your minions are your minion's minions, not your minions." - Mark

" The Bangles? Really? :P Just a quick question though... Are there any plans to keep a walled off corner of the forums for the closed beta testers, or are we all to be thrown to the wolves? (not to say we can't hold our own, just it might be nice to have a safe refuge from the din) Last edited by Koshinator#5710 on Jan 19, 2013, 11:04:27 AM

BAHAHAHAHAHAA this forum doesn't have any trolls,
the ones that are mistaken as such are kids with spoon IQ's. Find me someone who actually knows how to lurk and bait and maybe I'll change my mind |

" Not sure a separate location is required, but I think subconsciously (or consciously) I will give greater weight to threads/comments from CB supporters (particularly Golds :-) ) In truth, probably Bronze and above (just being honest with my probable prejudice). |

Let me try to elaborate on the issue, to try an enlighten my point of view, now that I have more time to do so. Without going too deep into the depths of human psychology, hopefully.
My reference to the parent to child relationship was made in order to point out a normal human behavior, the need for attention. The need for attention can be justified by a lot of reasons... the need to be reassured (security), the need for information, the need of expression, or the need to make an emotional connection.. just to name a few. The action of making a post in itself is a request for attention. We tend to label *trolls* as if they were all the same.. but behind every troll, there's a human being.. an individual human being that is, since our collection of emotions, qualities, flaws, physiological and psychological abilities are essentially the same, but differently balanced. Our ability to decipher a common logical vision of reality is affected by a lot of factors. The development of our human growth in a prolific environment, for example, is one on the most critic factor for an optimal human growth. Not everyone on this earth was so lucky to receive a caring, loving family.. sadly. Genetics, too, are quite important.. but not as much as a loving family.. in my opinion. And its a vicious circle. An heritage learned at home unwillingly... when disruptive human behaviors like anger, fear or even hatred are a normality at home, they become a part of the individual. Now I'l try to get back on subject.. I believe that before we jump to conclusions, when seeing a post that we feel is provocative, we should try to understand the motive behind that request for attention, and try to be judgmentally tolerant. A difference in perspective can sometimes be settled by conversation, but we have every right to our own opinions.. something that seems obvious to us is not necessarily obvious to our fellow forum member. Which brings me to another clarification.. I believe that as a community, an entity, we should all take part in maintaining a healthy forum environment. It would be more effective than ignoring the *trolls*, and letting the moderators do all the *Calm down bro*. Like I said in an earlier post.. we have great mods, but they might be overwhelmed at some point. I am not disagreeing on the fact that making a confrontive reply is one of the worst thing you can do. When someone is making a legitimate request, and gets confronted by another user who's not convinced of the legitimacy of his post, things are bound to go wild. Trying to be helpful, in a respectful and patient manner, can go a long way. The person might have a lack mental maturity, due to a young age, or a lack of proper psychological development. You being mature with them will help them grow. I know that not feeding the *trolls* is commonly regarded as the best thing to do.. but my convictions tell me otherwise. I sincerely hope I made my perception a little clearer with this long post.. and also sincerely hope that our forums stay healthy, for years to come. Hmm I'm sure that they will :} Standard: Shiverlyss, Lythyssa, Solaris, Goldorak, Clash, Cleavage, Sunflow. Last edited by Sunflow#6364 on Jan 21, 2013, 1:37:15 AM
