Don't feed the trolls
" Not saying GGG should let them run rampant, its just inevitable to happen. |

" True, it's bound to happen. Still no reason for me to indulge them. It's like children and sweets. Trolls will always want attention, they care for nothing else. And as long as you respond to them, you're encouraging more of the same behaviour. That's why the saying goes: "Don't feed the troll". 12/12/12 - the day Germany decided boys are not quite human.

would be nice to have a troll button to where if 10 people push it, the thread would be locked waiting moderators approval.

Trolls are not inherently bad, just the stupid ones. Good trolls are rare, brilliant ones are a sight to behold.
Too bad 99.99% of the trolls are the stupid ones, almost a lost art. |

I'm more in favour of forum filters wherein you can add users to your ignore list. When any online community grows it succumbs to the inevitable laws of the interwebz meaning trolls will rise and fall, religion topics shall surface, godwins law, etc etc.
I don't mind them much as long as they conform to the forum rules that is. One thing they could do is (if it doesn't already exist in this forum) is include wait timers for posting threads |

" ... by trolls. Even if there is a period of anarchy, order will return. There are so many good people on this forum it's hard to imagine their voices will be drowned out for long and their influence may even help some trolls to turn over a new leaf. There has to be a low point where some people stop complaining because it's just not worth it, and I have yet to see it. - Squeakypaw, 2013

" I sincerely hope you're correct (not about the good people, I agree wholeheartedly). I've stopped reading most forums for the games I enjoy because it's just not worth wading through the ... CivFanatics is about the only other board I truly enjoy, but we're an even smaller niche than POE. |

" Yeah, that's what happens at a lot of forums: The more hostile the atmosphere, the more 'balanced' people will just leave until only the fanatics on both sides are left. That's why I like to not let it come to that. PoE is the last gaming forum I'm active in, and that's because it has a really good climate. 12/12/12 - the day Germany decided boys are not quite human.
