Poll: Monster life number display
Should numbers be shown on the monster life bars?
|
I see no reason for health and mana to not be displayed as numbers at all times if the player so decides to do that.

I'm not playing yet... obviously ------->
But I think it shouldn't be, until you kill X number of that creature. A bestiary would allow resistances and other attributes of each foe to be listed as well. |

" Oh thats a great idea, like a lore feature. Kill 200 of tht type and you see their hp, kill 500 and you see their weaknesses, 1000 and you get bonus damage against that type of creature. I think everquest had something similar. |

I've voted no.
My suggestion is : monster attributes and abilities should be displayed after some number of monsters slain each type , everyone starts with zero knowledge and with killing mobs know them better , weaknesses etc and maybe should be achievements in game ? i.e. monster hunter enable detailed monster information sintead of simple life bar more advanced more information would allow to see. ======================

i like the idea of learning more about the monsters and thus showing more information about them, bun in the case of numeric monster HP i don't think it should be shown. The utility of such information must be concidered. Redundant information can be usefull but can severely cripple the speend in witch the player can understand the situation.
i voted no because if the live bar already show a understandable representation the added information of *23907/39845HP* is a bit of an overkill when compared with just >||||||....< |

Mentioning numbers I must say I'd rather be able to see the exact hp of my character and the exact dmg I'm doing with each attack or spell. Critting should also be visible, with different color. I don't know if any of these things is in the game right now, but I'd really love to see them there.
Edit: That includes the mana pool, ofc. "Rock is Overpowered. Paper is fine." - Scissors. Last edited by abhor#5376 on Sep 20, 2011, 11:48:15 AM

Nope, this game belongs to old skool rpg realm, which is gonna be a "true" one, considering all the works so far done. And really would not want to be seen as "labeled item ids" on warehouses. So please do not add it, it just breaks its spirit....

I'd like to see this as an option. People who want precision and like to play the math game will prefer it that way, while people who want an old school feel don't have to be stuck with it if they don't want to.

I do like the bestiary option that others have mentioned and it's been utilized well in other games.
The premise is that after X kills you get some basic knowledge. After X+Y kills, you get more info, and after X+Y+Z you get even more + some lore that you learned about in a pub, etc.. For the original post, I voted for the "if enabled in the options post". It doesn't really affect gameplay much, but some like it, some don't - so a user option is the best choice even if there is a bestiary or not. |

for Bosses it's always interesting to know how many life they have, it's let it you guess after a few hits how long the fight lasts.
you can then estimate if you have enough potions or mana to win or not the fight... something good & revealing is to see the LVL of the monsters. like this if you are LVL 8 & encounter a group of LVL 11 monsters you know instantly that you must be careful. so, i don't vote ^.^, because it's Yes (for Bosses) & No (for mobs) at the same time for me. "i'm the French Saigneur ! Fight for your life stupid MOBs !" Post to ask for a Key is like a Baby crying for his baby bottle. Totally infantile, it's late, go to bed kids.
