after seeing D3 beta streams, I'm now convinced that...
" No game is more expensive due to It's popularity. As with all Blizzard games, there will be two prices. Most likely $59.99 for normal, and the 2nd price for the collectors edition will depend on what's inside. Secondly, the people posting in this thread saying that PoE being f2p is a major plus, and that Blizzard is "greedy" for charging to get their game, are a plague on the gaming market. You should be happy to pay for games that you consider worth playing. Free to play or not. Thirdly, The real money auction house system for D3 isn't a pay to win deal. If people want to spend money in order to get ahead of everyone else then they will find a way to. The main method here is RMT. However, this type of Auction house does something big. It allows players themselves to determine the market value of items. That means that if the RMT market/gold farmers want to make money off of the D3 economy, then they must compete with the PLAYERS. RMT is going to happen regardless, but this way it will be done legally and under the influence of the gaming company. Blizzard will of course gain major profit from this idea (like 10 cents on a transaction or something) but it is still beneficial to the actual game economy. Btw everyone will start out with a little money to their account if they want to use the real money auction house. So as long as you are smart with it you can come out with at least gaining items/gear without spending anything consistently. Or you can just use the in-game currency AH, which is exactly the same system as the other. This is just the reality of real research. I'm not saying D3 is going to be a better game than PoE (I actually want a PoE beta invite right now more than anything). |

i feel the same i thought it was going to be the shining dark armor once of D2 now that i look at POE more
my mouth gargles :X |

For me, the dark, gloomy atmospheric visuals in PoE beat out the "WOWified" art direction that the D3 graphics appear to have taken. PoE just looks way cooler to me.
I hope GGG can nail down the addictive game-play on this thing. If they can, Blizzard will get a run for their money and many of those old Diablo fans may soon find themselves being... "exiled". |

" Agreed, I definitely feel like this game is more on point with the dark atmosphere. |

The idiots at blizzard should have released 3 years ago like they said they would, but im glad they didnt otherwise PoE might not get as many fans (cos they busy playing d3). It does seem to me very much that Blizzard is threatened by PoE and are looking to release asap. I think the fans of PoE will spread the word across the net that it is superior thus taking away some of the financial advantage Blizzard have.
Who know d3 might even become a F2P game if PoE goes really well. "Look, A PIE!"

D3 looks awesome.
BETA testers are really enjoying it so far and it's just 1/3 of the ACT. Going into a painterly Artstyle is the right decision. Environments and atmosphere can definitely look gloomy and set a Diablo mood without the overusage gray/black or other bland colors. Definitely the game looks more polished than POE such as smoother character and monster animations. I will stil play POE when it comes out, but one thing is for sure that I'll be enjoying D3 more. Skill runes is where is at. :) |

People that complain about the auction house have a good arguement, however blizzard was kind of smart in doing it this way, regardless if there was a Auction system or not, people will still go to websites and buy their gear anyways..blizzard took the chance and added it as an option to make money instead of other people making money off their product.
Sure, they could make items bound to character..but trading is a big part of the Diablo series. |

" This. I would consider myself an absolute Blizzard fanboy and I have been awaiting the arrival of D3 through time and space, but what I see so far leaves me with mixed feelings. Too comicky for me. The ambience is really well done, but the characters, the fixed skill system... I dont know. I WILL buy D3. I will play it. D3 will be a success. But I think PoE will be, too. Had I to choose one over the other right now, I would chose PoE. Last edited by Starcraft42#1303 on Sep 9, 2011, 1:25:11 AM

" You would choose POE over diablo3 because you haven't play diablo III, but back to beginning it's just a matter of taste :p. |
