Chaos is the damage that makes the game more complicated. I personally like it. It's unexpected and ignores shield. Pretty cool if you ask me.

You should see Grim Dawn's resistance system, it is actually more interesting than PoE's resistance system. Still, I feel that GGG forced themselves to put chaos res in this game. Look how long it has took them to make Viper Strike with melee splash work. They added a concept to the game that literally threw everything out of loop.
Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.
