MF is the only difficulty slider in this game

XP means less at high level. Gear is the true progression.

Guy running HIGH mf stats runs piety in 5-10min if im correct.

My flickerstrike dude with 0 of those stats but huge burst dmg runs it in 1-3minutes... which one gets more loot i wonder.

We all know which gets more loot, the faster one.
In other games - you get a cookie whether you win or lose. PoE not only takes your fuckin' cookie and eats it in front of you, it slaps you upside the fuckin head a few times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

2) In your example, the character with twice the killspeed would have gotten double the amount of exp and up to double the amount of currency, depending how much IIQ is lost.

ding ding winner!

mf should be in these games but it should not double, tripple or even more drop rates.

MF values on gear should be 1-3 quantity and 2-5 rarity per piece so that total numbers of 15-20% iiq and 30-40% iir could be created and not as it is here with 20/50 on a single item.

So I ask...why? I have better gear sitting in my stash! Way better, perfectly optimized gear with no mf on it. When am I going to use it? Never, except maybe if I hop into a public game with someone who is the designated mf culler. Makes no sense to me. So now I have to try and find gear that does the same thing my other gear did, only also has mf on it....

Back in diablo2 it was the same, I'd to meph/baal/pindle runs etc wearing 600 mf worth of gear and find great stuff that I would put in my stash for later, and later never came, because it had no mf on it. Silly.

[edited for convenience]

I don't know why GGG doesn't just scrap mf as an item stat, make encounters difficult based on their level, make drops balanced according to the difficulty of said encounters and let us wade into battle with the gear that kills things fastest and keeps us alive the longest.

Anyway that's my $0.00002 :)

I agree with the first part. I hate that I'm not using my best gear but running around in MF uniques. What's the points of having good gear if it's pointless to use it? I don't like MF one bit in this game to be honest.

However, I disagree with you that it was the same in D2. You could have fairly high MF in D2 with awesome gear. Most top-tier gear in D2 had inherent MF, like bonus from sets. While it wasn't as good as pure MF build characters, it was still close enough to warrant using this top-tier gear. At the moment in PoE, I'm just using 3 great items and the rest is purely for it's IIQ/IIR stats. I would rather use the great items I have sitting in my back, but even after the IIQ nerf, it feels rather pointless to use them.

EDIT:

SOLUTIONS?

- Capped like resists at 75%?
- Every item has a bit of MF, but MF is inherent to itemlevel? Like higher itemlevel gives a higher boost to MF?
- Mobs dropping leveled loot? E.g less level 20 uniques from map bosses?
- ...

I think magic find should be on the skill tree somewhere if GGG is never going to completely remove it.
I will confirm that once I hit the 100IIR/50IIQ mark it became a different game drop wise.

Kicker for me was finally getting a viable 5link so I could incorporate a IIR gem into my main ability.

All the way through Lunaris lv 3 in 1 min? The only way that's possible if huge speed inc flask and pure luck choosing the right direction. They aren't all that fast.

In my experience from running Piety Zero compared to 100/30 (I'm a little higher now)

The stuff I picked up along the way was negligible. From Piety alone:

0 = about 1 inventory's loot worth. Unique almost never.

100/30 was about 3 inventory's worth of loot and a noticeable increase in uniques. Like one every 5 runs or so.

Im running 70-72 maps with 0 IIR and 0 IIQ. Alpha's Howl, Kaom's Primacy, Crown of Eyes dropped in 2 days. Praise the RNGesus before running map and u can be lucky :D

2 days of how many hours? 48 hours non-stop would make this very plausible :D

Too Funny!

I see you're point, not sure the "I want Loot and I WANT IT NOW!" type of player can. Perhaps they just need more gaming MF and they can finally pick up on the obvious.
