and then make some other levels that are completely arbitrary and don;t really give anything except false sense of progression !

just think about all the posibilitys! no more mindless grinding! no more false progression!
we can all sit in the forums and blame the game devs all day long until we all forget what the actual game is like! :D
i was trying to reference paragon levels ... sorry i should of made it more clear.. game is fine as is, so stop trying to make it into a game that its not

It is true that the system of rehashing the same content with increased difficult is old. It maybe old, but it is still very relevant today, as can be seen through popularity of games like these.
There is no doubt that there are better systems out there. But until someone can find a better model, the tried-and-true model will stay king.
Personally, I enjoy going through the acts over and over. The game is designed in a way that make me feel like there is real progress. My "theorycrafted" builds are put to the test, and get punished for a crap build. The feeling of getting past certain points gives me a sense of accomplishment, until I get punished yet again, forcing me to learn and build something better. I enjoy this, but who knows, I may just get bored eventually.

But I want GGG to straight up steal that monster power idea. I want to be able to warp to any map on meci and be able to at least select what level I want the mobs to be on that map...even if they simply boosted XP a bit and didn't mess with loot values like MP does in D3. I want to enjoy the whole game rather than grind Docks and hope for map drops. Yeah there are a few other level 62+ maps...but im missing out on 80% of the rest of the game. Id kill for chambers of sin, vaal ruins, the ledge, some of those act 2 forest maps, act1 beach...you get the point...change in mob type, change in scenery, change in world mechanics.
It cant be that hard to make happen, its just some value changes. Cheap easy way to make endgame a bit more entertaining...and close that epic grind gap between 70-100 due to lack of content appropriate to level.
/ledge
The ledge for sure. Really, just about anything other than Act 3.

Without a multiple act system only high lvl toons would ever be able to experience the storyline.

Not really. If they rescale all the areas in might work. Depends on what their max area lvl goals are, i like multiple difficulties a lot though.

All I know is that every time I get to act 3, my fun halts completely. Act 1-2 is continuously fun, but every time I get to act 3, I'd rather not.
The fun stops for me when I enter Vaal Ruins. It's such a boring slog through the rest of the game from that point. I feel bad saying that cause they worked so hard on act 3, just wish they'd condense it a little bit.
Yep...
Act 3 blows... The "new" stuff in Act 3 blows even more.
Doesn't help that most that "new" stuff they added is optimized like utter shit as well...
The hardest part of the Dominus fight, is listening to your GPU fan ramp hoping you'll end this miserable Act before you break 80c.
Oh and try playing a Summoner with MI... Look at the ground and then your FPS and GPU temps when you have 1000 fucking blown up minion body parts all over the floor coupled with the unoptimized PoS fight and rain itself.

I can`t stand the different Difficulty Playthrough either for the hundreds time.
My favourite would be :
Afer you have beaten Normal Mode, I would like to progress simply through Descent or Endless Ledge.
At lvl 45 or something Cruel is unlocked with all the WPs you got in Normal Mode.
Same for Merciless.
If you want you can still play the Game through all Difficulties.
Besides that I would so like an Endgame Descent or Endless Ledge Mode.
Just kick off my Shoes and grind mindlessly the Shit out of it.
Cheers

Add a 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th. Keep going until your thesaurus runs out of pages. Raise the level cap to 200. That would be fantastic. You could ditch the shitty map setup.

Normal, Cruel, Merciless... is what I believe to be an outdated mechanic in my opinion. Does anybody else agree with me from an arpg point of view? Now, I have played hack and slash games like many of you out there since early D2 release. And back then I had no issue with it and how it felt, simply because the game was revolutionary at the time and because the game itself had nothing to work off of as a benchmark from other games.
And I understand that the devs mentioned long ago(I THINK), that with enough acts implemented, the difficulty system will be taken out completely and the levels will just be scaled. However, as it stands, nowadays I find myself less motivated to progress through the game due to this in place. The fact that I have to get through 3 difficulties before I experience endgame is a turn off in my eyes, many of my friends agree as well. Also, every game has an act that feels lack luster and tedious, and this is how I feel about act 3 in POE. It is just so long with its back and forth questing. And every time I complete it, I begin to think that I have to do it yet again.. two more times for a matter of fact.
Now, I am by no means any longer a 'super hardcore' gamer like some are, but I have played my fair share of this game off and on since closed beta, and really enjoy this game and love what GGG has graced us with. I have a few characters around 70-80 in hardcore/nemesis and a few I have been toying around with in Domination. But due to the issue I mentioned above, I am having a hard time getting through he difficulties three times just to get into endgame.
Oh, One last point... This mechanic wasn't some brutal in D2 simply due to the fact that you got rushed the majority of the time, which doesn't really exist here.
Thoughts, ideas... please speak freely but keep it civil folks.
Yes it's an old system....
And yes there are other systems on offer.
This system still works however and is embedded in POEs progression.
It a proven system that works and I don't believe needs changing for this particular game.

I dont understand. if the game starts to get to some kind of end then why not play something else? Or start a new char?
